She pauses to think for a long moment. "Truth. The whole truth. I know the who, the what, the when. With a little digging I could find the where. What I don't know is the why. Maybe it wouldn't even matter... The ends do not justify the means... But maybe if I knew why, I could at least understand. Forgive.

"If I can't-- then I don't know who I am anymore. And THAT scares me more than the revelation that everything I thought I knew was all just a convenient, pretty lie."

"The search for the truth is as important as the actual truth. For the journey shapes the seeker into the person capable of receiving such revelation. Apollodorus ignored the truth for a long time. His journey has been long and taken many turns from where he originally expected to go."

"I find that such platitudes are usually a gentle way of suggesting that one extract one's cranium from the visceral posterior-- but point taken.

"Is there anything you require of me, besides validation of your seisin?"

"Child, did you not take note of how he searched your face when you met him? For in your face he saw the harbinger of his own death. Events are now set to unfold that will shake the very fabric of your House, if not the Order. Apollodorus has been acting on a course that has been leading him to his doom, and you are yet another reminder that it draws nigh."

Answering your question about their newly declared seisn, "We can put you up in some semi-private accomodations, but they are crude. It is unlikely that you could even visit our seisin before dark, let alone return by dark. That is a task that you should consider deferring until the morning."

"We all choose our paths. If the one he follows is not tenable, he could choose another."

She accepts the offer of lodging. "I won't be validating it by replacing a proper cursor," she insists.

"Perhaps, or perhaps this is his choice. He asked me to ask you that you keep what we have discussed in confidence. There is much that he is not ready to reveal, and much that may not be revealed until certain events have unfolded."

Before Laetitia departs to her bedroll, "I was wondering if you could intercede on our behalf. My mater, who is very old and frail wishes to return the the land of our birth before she passes. Apollodorus has used his influence for us in one respect, but we need someone to shelter the majority of the turb, and also take in Jacques. Agrylos would like to come with us, as well as a portion of the turb. We would like to disband Atsingani, but we wish to ensure that Jacques and the turb are well taken care of. It was my hope that this would've been resolved last year, indeed it is why I instigated the difficulty with Mons Electi that lead us to our present arrangement, although it didn't work out as I had planned. It is my hope, that you, as an outsider could intercede where Apollodorus is disinclined to do so, with his covenant mates. We will dissolve only once the seisin has been verfied allowing the seisin to fall to our liege as a legacy." [Note: it should be trivial for Laetitia (no roll) to recall that Atsingani registered the large seisin of 2 rooks of Herbam back at Tribunal]

"What difficulty do you speak of? I do not see why they would not absorb a magus and your turb in exchange for two rooks of vis per annum. Would you introduce me to Jacques?"

"He's currently out in the field, Alexei had requested winter drills, some independent and some together. I'm not sure of all the details at the moment. He should be back in a few days."

"What was the difficulty you instigated?"

She demurs, "It doesn't matter, if you're really interested, you can ask Fiona."

She nods. "Well, I am not sure how much weight my voice carries with folks I've only just met, who know that a short-sighted power-hungry megalomaniac thinks me his catspaw... But I will meet with Jacques when he returns, and once I know where both sides stand I can arbitrate negotiations."

"Sometimes an outsider has more credibility than one would expect. Sleep well Laetitia."

Is Laetitia going to just spend the night, return to Mons Electi and leave a request for Jacques to call upon her when he's available, or is she going to wait here for Jacques? Also, will she go out with the someone to view the vis source? It's an easy trip, even in winter. A cursor isn't needed for this source.

She'll leave a request for Jacques to come see her. It's cold, and camping is not her thing.

She'll go see the vis source, but to be validated properly someone has to make the trip on foot, unenhanced by magic, and it ain't gonna be her. She'll ask Viviana to ride with her alongside whatever poor sap is willing to make the trip on foot. She'll use the Phantom Bridle to summon mounts for herself and Viviana.

Unless Viviana is the poor sap who ends up walking, in which case, Laetitia will be a bit embarrassed, but she still ain't walkin'.

No, Viviana doesn't go, she rides, in her wagon, when she needs to go somewhere and tends to her mater.

A cursor goes out with you, he doesn't say much to you, walks you to a very large oak tree, seemingly out in the middle of nowhere. It has a couple of odd growth patterns looking something like the image below, without the moss.

Does this site match the description in the seisin registration?

Yes. And you'll be back well before dark, during winter, so during midsummer it is a slam dunk.

It's midsummer in the Bigfoot thread. It's winter in this one, or at least it was on page 1 :stuck_out_tongue:

Day one: arrive at Mons Electi
Day two: sleep off hangover, draft paperwork for ME's vis sources, drop them off at Confluensis, get rejected by some old fart who was beneath me anyway
Day three: travel to Atsingani
Day four: validate the Herbam seisin

I'm not confusing the time, though I can see how you might think that. I'm comparing the duration of the trip during winter to what the trip would be like during midsummer. If it can be done in the winter from dawn to dusk, it is even easier to do it AT midsummer.
:stuck_out_tongue:

My god. I have clearly not finished recovering from last weekend.

Anyway, she rides back with the cursor, leaves word for Jacques to come speak with her when he wants her to arbitrate a settlement with Mons Electi, and rides back to ME.

Jacques can meet her at Mons Electi when he swings by to check on the men that are training.
