1222.2e: Three Hour Tour

((I think Talia's knows, and even a 15+ Guile roll, while making the lie appear perfect probably won't make Talia believe her. Is that reasonable?))

Caiomhe's Guile roll is Com 4 + Guile 7 + die roll of 0 (botch check comes up a 7) = 11.

Up to you guys. For inter-player stuff, I use these kind of rolls more as guidelines then "Her guile beat your Folk Ken, so you have to believe her"

Folk Ken check of 8.

((You make the call, Arya. Pay now or pay later. :stuck_out_tongue: I will also point out you have another character in the cabin, she's never exited the scene...))

In that case... While the delivery is flawless and she sounds completely believable and sincere, her eyes keep flicking back to the kerchief, and she's just a liiiitle too protective of it. Totally obvious it's Godiva's.

"Very well. Consider how suspicious I am for leaving stray hairs, Caiomhe. If I'm like that with a few hairs, think how someone else might feel about finding something personal missing. Think how someone might feel used and betrayed." Talia gives her a direct look. "If you wish to talk about this any further, or would like to sail up the loch again for any reason, let me know."
"Haile, I think we're done here. If you have any advice on the matter, I'd be happy to discuss it, but not here and not now." She says that while looking at Caiomhe.

Halie nods. "Did you want me to check and see if there have been any magics used upon her?"

"Not a bad idea. Please." Talia adds, "and check that kerchief, too."

Impression of the Faded Sigil: 8+33=41, Spell level 30
The Whole From the Part: 6+18In+5Co+2Sta+3Au= 34, halved is 17; spell level is 15. (Gives you a mental image of the person an Arcane Connection belongs to.)

After catching her breath, she'll spont the same to check the hairs from Caoimhe's wig to see whether they connect to the real Eireann or to Caoimhe herself. Instead, she rolls a non-botch zero and falls short of the target spell level. So she rests to catch her breath, and tries it again, with another non-botch zero. (Seriously? I only need to roll a not-zero.) She'll rest again, and try one last time: Again with the non-botch zeroes.

At this point Halie thinks she's jinxed and quits. And Arya is pretty sure Invisible Castle is bugged.

Impression of the Faded Sigil on Caiomhe shows nothing. But, unless the spell were very powerful and/or longer than Momentary, Concentration, or Diameter, it wouldn't.

((Whole From the Part is Level 20, but it's D: Concentration, which I'm not sure why it needs to be. Did you want to drop it to D: Momentary, to get it down to level 15?))

The Whole From the Part on the kerchief gives you a glimpse of a very attractive blonde woman. (Give me an Order of Hermes Lore check, please)

Unless the wig is Infernal. :stuck_out_tongue:

At Arcane Connection range, it would be pretty high level. Restore the Faded Threads would help, but I couldn't afford it.

Yeah, I was too lazy to go find my TL book so I just picked it up off Laetitia's character sheet, where it's Momentary and lv 15.

7. I'll spend a Confidence point if necessary.

She'll give it one last shot: Finally.

((Or just describe the blond woman.))

Spending the confidence point tell you that the blonde is, indeed, Godiva of Jerbiton, a newly-gauntleted maga from England. She might have done her apprenticeship at Schola Pythagoranis, but Halie's not sure.

It's a very weak Arcane Connection to Caiomhe (one that lasts hours).

((Assuming the information is relayed, if not, I'll revise. I am torn between two decisions here, but I don't think Talia has enough information to know whether they are up to no good and having an AC would be helpful. So, with an unknown quantity close by, Talia is going to err on the side of keeping warm relations.))

"Caiomhe, you need to return it. I'll accompany you, if you wish. We will sail up, and you can go up alone or I'll come along. As much as I was concerned about having a connection to me, she may now suspect that I ordered you to take one of her, that your affection was an act. Keeping that as a memento of your night together could be the end of your relationship with her."

Talia goes to the ladder leading to the deck. She yells out "Make ready to get underway, recall any of the crew from the village."

"But-- no! When I see her next it must be as myself!" She looks ready to cry.

"As you wish. If she gives it to you freely, that's her choice. If you want her to trust you, you have to do this, or she'll always suspect us. I have no idea whether this is a good idea. The path you walk is going to be extremely difficult. If relations between our two covenants sour, you'll be in a tough situation. You can borrow a cloak so no one knows what you really look like, if you'd like. We'll take the ship, it will be much faster than walking, and I can go with you or not."
Turning to Haile, "Haile, you can stay aboard if you'd like, or get back to whatever you're doing. We'll be underway within the half hour."

Halie shakes her head. "I don't have much of a stomach for travel by water," she apologises. She goes above, turns into a sea eagle and flies off.

The Whoa Buoy will take off to Orientali Litore when all the crew is back aboard...

Caoimhe stays in her cabin and cries the whole trip.

Upon arrival Talia throws a cloak on Caoimhe and pilots the boat to the beach herself, then will guider her up to the Aegis boundary. At the Aegis boundary she'll announce herself, as Talia from Insula Canaria.

((Is Caiomhe going as Caiomhe or as Eireann?))

After a moment, a voice cries out in Gaelic to wait there, that someone will be out soon.

A few minutes pass before Godiva (appearing in a satiny form-fitting bodice, billowy sleeves, and a long slit dress with a hint of a train) and a younger man dressed in a brightly-colored jerkin and pants.

"Are these our friends from o'er the pond, that made your face to glow?" the man (who appears fae-blood) says to Godiva. "I'm glad we finally got the chance to meet and say 'hello'."

"Talia! What a pleasant surprise," Godiva says. "I didn't expect to see you back so soon." (more will depend on Caiomhe/Eireann)
