And did you ask them why they captured you?
"The Fire Giants? No. They don't talk, as far as I can tell. And the others appeared contemporaneous with your arrival."
Others meaning the people calling themselves Diedne?
And the Jotun.
Have they just talked to you? Have you seen them do any magic?
"No, none of them talked except the one, and he said he was going to fetch you three. They arrived with the Jotun, and he went off to get you telling them to wait here with me."
Might as well get comfortable.
Jacques will try to make a down filed mattress to lie on.
Create the mattress bag with rope CrHe base 2 Dur: Dim+1
Cr 9 + He 8 + St1+ aura 10 + 1d10=3 = 28/5 = 5.5
Fill it with down
CrAn Base 5 +2 group + 1 Diam
Cr 9+9 + An 10 + St1 + aura 10 + 1d10=2 = 41/2 20
tie it up and lay down.
Isen notices what the Diedne thinks a powerful Aegis. So. They're likely weaker than us. That's good to know, although I wouldn't count on it.
(Rest edited since they went out.
(edited since the diedne are gone)
To Jacques:
I'm thinking... Could this be why Valerian was trying to capture Tria Bonisagi?
Once the diedne exit the room
So. That went well. Good try, jacques, but when one takes everything in the worst possible way, you're fighting a losing battle.
They could have been right, and I was frightened there, for a second, but it doesn't make any sense at all.
I am tiring of these shennanigans. We're wasting time needlessly, and even if convinced, they might not be able to help anyway. I say we wait until they come back, try to reach some commoun ground, and if we can't, we part ways.
And yes, he doesn't care about the giants hearing him. To him, he has nothing to hide in these words.
((Attack on Tria happens in 1227, after the Tribunal. It is the winter of 1223
From his mattress...
We can be sure they are monitoring us now. We can't be sure they are what they say they are. Have we seen them cast spells? Do they know Parma Magica?
"You have a point. Those devices are Hermetic, or at least are leaving Hermetic traces..."
The belts? Are they just used for transporting or do they have any additional powers you have observed?
"I just saw them when you did, and that's the only effect I've seen."
Marcus pauses for effect.
"So no."
We can be sure they are monitoring us now. We can't be sure they are what they say they are. Have we seen them cast spells? Do they know Parma Magica?
Well, we can't even be sure of that. Magical senses need to penetrate, after all, so unless they managed to pierce our parma or to circumvent it altogether, they might only be able to spy on us indirectly, through the grogs actions. This is probably why they left the giants with us, I figure. Still, this might give us a slight edge, which is always good.
You're right, though, that we have absolutely no proof at all that they are what they say they are. Working with giants like this? They might just as well be servants of Loki, trying to trick us for gods no what
A few hours pass, and the one who spoke returns, this time alone, "We have discussed the matter and while we do not believe you we recognize that we are at a serious disadvantage. Can you bring us any proof, any proof at all of what you've claimed?"
We can, but not easily. This requires going back to the mundane world, and would mean doing a lot of copies before bringing them back to you. I understand your desire for some proof. But you will have to trust us at least a little
(As far as Isen knows*, we've had some copies made and disseminated, but, just in case, he prefers them to believe they have no spare copy of Appolodorus works)
- And I'm not sure at all, maybe this was just discussed.
"We are ageless here... Time means much less to us. And what is a year for us is 7 years for you. We are prepared to trust, or bar you from returning to this realm. Some reparations to the giants of the hills may be necessary, though we can assist with that."
((My instinct is to have Tranquillina argue against owing reparations - Marcus was taken prisoner after all. But I realize I don't really know the start of this story. Earlier in 1223.4, Fiona and Marcus arrived at the Blacksmith's to find it wrecked ... did we trace that to the hill giants? And there was an even earlier encounter with them, wasn't there?))
In 1222, Laetitia and Fiona travel to the realm with Marcus. They kill some giants and then bravely runaway. They, giants, apparently respond with an attack on the Blacksmith's demesne. In 1223, Marcus and Fiona travel again, back to the realm. Fiona unleashes Marcus who proceeds to lay waste to all who come before him. Marcus was apprehended, and here everyone is.
Fiona unleashes Marcus who proceeds to lay waste to all who come before him.
(( I have this image of Fiona walking in wearing a large trenchcoat with Marcus concealed under it, going "Psst! Hey, you! Wanna buy a Tytalus?"
opens trenchcoat
Marcus goes to town
