1226.3 - Road to Bibracte

Alexei looks at Korvin in some surprise. "Valerian...prisoner? Valerian?!" with that he pulls a spear tip from a pouch he carries and touches it to the end of his staff, there is a brief but pleasant smell of fresh pine as the tip remains affixed to his staff as if forged that way. Before starting ohh he looks down at this armour his eyes narrow. A moment or two of quiet and he suddenly disappears out of it, reappearing next to it as the armour crumples to the floor.

"Let's go."

((Alexei will cast Gift of the Bear's Fortitude on himself and then Doublet of Impenetrable Silk))

Oh, okay. Let's roll 8)
I tell Carlos to belay the last order sending a page to get my armor. I have Albert and Allen accompany us.

[strike]After Korvin and Alexei depart, Fiona sits at the table regarding Roberto, with the merest hint of a smile on her lips, drumming her fingers thoughtfully on the table top. ((I have no idea what Roberto looks like, but I'm kind of picturing Inigo Montoya for some reason.))

"Welcome to Mons Electi."[/strike]
((Stupid crossposting  ))

Korvin turns to everyone before leaving the room. When you follow, please stay back or out of sight. We do not need to look like a bunch of old hens clucking around at a visitor.

((Is Korvin going to let Roberto come along, or is he going to invite him to stay in the council chamber? Roberto appears to be following...))

"Roberto!" Alexei calls to the newest Magus. "Armour is not a good idea. Take it from me."

((Belay this after Roberto already belays the order))

Roberto can follow. As they walk.

Roberto. Alexei is in charge of the turb at Mons Electi. In this situation, I would ask that you TRY to follow Alexei or at least defer to him. Valerian is a foe of Mons Electi but not one we can act on. If he is on official business, which I am guessing he is, then we must act within the Code. Please do not provoke him any more than necessary. (turns to Alexei) That goes for you too.

"Agreed." Alexei says immediately, no ego or pride inflecting his voice. "Just in case. Valerian your invitation is revoked, the full Aegis is upon you." Alexei says in a clear voice, well before they arrive where Valerian and the prisoner await. "I already rescinded it once, but don't want to take a chance he might still have a token."

((Would Valerian need to hear the revoke? I wouldn't think so, but it could be a quirk of the magic))

Understood

Roberto goes with the flow and has the almogavar pair stand back by his side.
What doe Roberto look like, eh? In my mind's eye I sorta imagine a rough cut Antonio Banderez. A little harder face maybe. Short hair and clean shaven.
Inigo Montoya is just a joke Junior cracks on Carlos and his goofy accent

((Alexei wouldn't need to say it, as no other magus who took part in the Aegis ritual had extended him an invitation, and he is standing outside the gate. Tokens are only valid if they were present at casting.))
The page escorts everyone to the north gate, where Valerian is standing with a figure in shackles, blindfolded and gagged. In addition he appears to have some dried blood on his face, below his nose, and several shiners consistent with being hit wit sling stones. One cheek, in particular looks like there might be a broken bone, as it doesn't appear to be symmetric to the other side of his face, anymore.
"Ahh, my sodales of Mons Electi. And Roberto, excellent, I am glad you came with!"
He smiles (think Morden from B5), "We found the vagrant and trespasser who absconded with the vis belonging to Monteverte, and I was on my way back to Cunfin with him when I came upon a burned out wagon. A quick bit of detective work on the ashes and I thought of Roberto. Do you wish to press charges against the vagrant? He has enough against him, already."

((Very drool-worthy ))

Seems a little to conveinent...

Your prisoner is a magus then? Your detective skills must surely be better than mine, for I was able to obtain no evidence from the scene. What did you find?
The prisoner appears badly injured, perhaps in need of medical attention. It is not befitting for a man to stand trial in such condition.

((Can we recognize the face? Does it look like Rotgers?))

"Who is the prisoner? Do you know?" Alexei asks Valerian directly.

((Rotgiers is from Monteverte, no, it's someone else. Order of Hermes rolls would be necessary to try and identify the man. His clothing is nondescript black robes.))

Speaking to the man's injuries, "The man resisted apprehension and cast several spells at me, which I easily evaded. I then took the opportunity to incapacitate him. He will not stand trial as such, and he is fit enough to walk. He will recuperate at Confluensis, or Cunfin, and we will convene a special Tribunal. His charge will likely be depriving a magus of his magic, against the magi of Montverte. I ask again, do you wish to add any charges yourself? Were your men attacked in your presence?" He pointedly ignores the questions as to the man's identity and what was discovered at the scene of the burned wagon.

Does Roberto recognize him? Order of Hermes Lore 2 (Flambeau) and Int +2 (or Per +0)
Let the man speak to the charges.
Did you attack my wagon?
Valarian, what are the penalties this man faces? A petty theft that can be repaid does not warrent a clandestine secret trial What is his fine?

"Rotgiers already identified the Vis in his possession, and is not a petty theft, by any means. That is his first crime, which any of you should know his a High Crime, depriving a magus of his magical power." Then he smiles and it drips with cruel irony, "Then after I located him, I identified myself and attempted to detain him, he attacked me. Finally, I'm attempting to find out from you, Roberto, if this is the man is involved in your abandonment and subsequent burning of your wagon. A simple yes or no is all that I require and I shall be on my way. You will have your day to testify before the Tribunal, if you so desire."
While it may appear to be a setup job, Valerian is the po-lice. It's not his job to sort out the case, and there are charges that supersede Roberto's in any event.

((I do have OoH but can't roll, if someone would roll for me? I won't be able to roll til late tonight))

Alexei relaxes a bit, perhaps grudgingly. The crime was comitted against Roberto, it was up to him to make any charges.

Let him face his own music. If he is guilty of wrecking my lab equipment, I want my money outta him. If not, whatever happens happens. Dumbass m-f tried to hit a cop. I am just trying to get a gague on Valarian.
I am asking the magus if he is guilty. Just let him nod his head yess or no.
And I look the prisoner in the eye...

((Make an awareness roll...
Valerian is modeled after Morden from Babylon 5, I just had this realization, except he does stuff, he doesn't arrange for stuff to be done. If you get on his good side, it's awesome, until it falls apart. If you are on his bad side... well.))

When Roberto asks him, the magus nods his head.
