5th ed changes.. why?

In fourth edition a verditious who spent most of his time enchanteing could get a comfortable magic theory or craft score at the pathetic rate of 1 xp per season

And if my memory doesn't fail me, in third edition, increasing your magic theory was even harder...

Your memory seems reasonable enough! But then again it might have been due to all the reasons for getting rid of all the unreasonable baggage hauled around by the 3rd ed. that the Magic Theory was also changed

(or should I have said raison somwhere? could not find room for it.. or maybe the raison d'etre of 3rd ed reason was the reasonable howlings of the big bad wolf hunting these territories back then)

I give 1 EP per month rather than 2 per season. It does not seem to unbalance things as I tend to ensure at least one goes on a non-magical ability such as language or Area Lore or similar
