An intriguing encounter (summer 1222)

"Yes, that is true. Nevertheless, you must decide what to give."

Anastasia pauses for a while to think things over. It's clear she's giving this some serious thought. Finally she nods her head and turns back to the older man.

"I think I have it," she says. "You're stuck here with nothing to entertain you. I could always give you some of my memories of Athens so you could get a fresh taste of the outside world again. Or if you prefer, I could give you some of my musical skill so that you could entertain yourself. Do you have a preference?"

"That is very generous, it has been centuries since I have had word of Athens. Enilikon, we need another book."
Enilikon emerges again, this time appearing as a handsome teenage young man with the legs of a goat, and pulls a book from out of his tunic, taps a pen to Anastasia's head, and her memories of Athens are gone- not her entire childhood from that time, but the parts that would let her navigate Athens, or remember anything specific about the city. Memories of competitions she had with other children and similar things remain. He holds the pen over the book and the ink seems to literally flow out and begin writing in the book, which he then hands to the older man, and they gesture that Anastasia should pick up her book. When she opens the book the words seem to fly into her head and manifest as fully formed ideas and knowledge, knowledge of an ancient cult, not associated with the Order of Hermes which practices faerie magic imbeds itself in your mind. They call themselves the Order of the Neraides, and were comprised of a combination of gifted and non-gifted members. You now have Order of the Neraides Lore at 1, in exchange for you area lore (Athens).
The man then turns to Petr. "I have nothing prepared for you, but if you wish a trade as well it can be arranged, or you may leave with your friend, or stay if you prefer."

"Thank you. You know so much more than I. For now, I will leave with Anastasia. It was said that we could return?
I would like that, and will hope to find something worth giving of myself as a gift in the future. "

"Thank you," Anastasia says when this odd transfer is complete. "That was very ... interesting." She pauses a moment to call forth a memory of her childhood. She could remember playing in her family house, and accompanying her mother to the local market. But she couldn't for the life of her remember how to get from her house to the market. For that matter, she couldn't remember anything specific about the market either, except that she'd been there. That was all very odd. but the new information in her mind about this faerie-magic organization was just as strange. She shakes her head and determines to figure out what this all means later.

"I'm sorry to lose my memories of Athens," she says to the man. "But I can always go back and see the city again. You needed the memories more than I did."

Then she turns to Enilikon and bows her head. "If it's allowed, I think I'd like to go back to the covenant now."

Is there any particular specialty that comes with the new Ability?

"Paidi, if you would escort them back now."
Paidi nods his head and leads the two of you to the back of the cave, and through an tunnel which emerges from an old oak, and then leads you back to the covenant.

The focus is on hidden places, and includes the grove you just visited. It can also be used for initiations if you find a mystagog associated with the group.

Story is worth 6 xp for each character, confidence for Anastasia: 3

When they get back to the covenant, Anastasia turns to Petre. "What an adventure that was. fauns, a hidden glade, a man from a long-ago age, even some faerie magic." She has a smile on her face. "And I got to meet you, and you can talk to animals. Is that something you could teach me to do? I'd love to be able to talk to birds."

I'll keep the xp for reading the book. If this had been Autumn, I'd have taken the XP and gotten Faerie Lore. But she needs her Magic Theory. I'll happily take the Confidence, though.

"Owls are particularly nice. I would be happy to teach you to talk to them."

(OOC: It would take a season of activity for Petre to teach the ability. Is he free in Spring 1223?)

Petre is quite willing to be helpful. And not at all sure what he is after. So he is free whatever season will work. As I understand it this has to happen before Anastasia arts are opened, but that is up to you folks. Petre has not even realized he could / should ask for something in return for teaching this rare ability.
