Are you using a Mac? If so, I highly recommend not using an emulator. Use Boot Camp to set things up. Then you can run Windows natively. I haven't tried running Metacreator on it, but I haven't had a problem running anything else I've tried that way.
We're thinking about adding the Realms of Power books. What do you all think of that? Is there a strong interest in these, or is there something else you'd prefer?
Since there are only the two of us in Alter Ego Software, we don't have the time to do everything. Your input helps guide the product development decision.
I'd definitely be interested in the Realms books. I think (from memory) there a host of new virtues and flaws, some providing associated supernatural abilities, others access to abilities and/or XP. And of course, there are the Methods and Powers and the effect guidelines used to create new in-game effects. Divine and Infernal are quite similar, but Magic and Faerie really add new character creation options (to support creatures and characters wholly from the associated realm).
I think you'd find a lot of support for these supplements as they really flesh out the supernatural world, which is a massive part of the setting.
Mac OS X is a nice dream, but I am more hindered by the binary format of *.chr files. I wish there was a way to export a character to text, modify its advancement history, and import it again into Metacreator.
Well, I do not use metacreator, since we use quite a few house rules, so some of the auto-calculations are of no use for us (combat, mainly) and AFAIK you cannot manually edit the numbers. So take this with a pinch of salt
I think the realm books would be welcomed, but the creature creation rules are fairly complicated to implement.
Hedge magic (specially) & Art and Acadme would be welcome. Enough to trigger my interest in buying the product.
Lords of Men should be easy to update (4 or 5 Virtues and flaws, and some new weapon and armor stats).
Same here. Add art and acadme for the theriacs, reagents and periapts for me.
I just got started creating custom data sheets for our player-created spells. From the way data sheets work it seems it would be pretty simple to swap in your own weapon stats if you want. Serf's Parma.
IMS we got rid of defence in preference for a single stat that combined the 2 (attack and defence) and we simplified all the weapons to 0 in all stats except damage (damage ranging from +0 to +9 in 3 point increments). So we do not need much of a data sheet there, I guess
The editable data sheet would be an important point for us. For me, at least, it would be !
