ARM IV: Starting Parma Magica

In Ars 4th ed the starting magi templates seem to start most characters with a Parma Magica of 2? Was Parma taught in apprenticeship in that edition, or was the default a magus who was a who few years post-Gauntlet?

I do like the Templates/House packages in the Fourth Ed, dropped in 5th. How do others feel about them?

I both like them and I do not. It was good to have an example of how the magi of a certain house would look like. Though with this new system where you get less powerful and are given less expereinece points than in fourth edition, I feel that it feels better with being able to form your own character without too many required skills.

The prohibition against teaching an apprentice the Parma Magica before Gauntlet is new to 5th Edition. In 4th edition, the ability was teachable at any time during apprenticeship.

Starting score of Parma Magica 2 goes back to the 2nd edition IIRC, when the teaching system was much less well-defined.

Since you entioned them, they might be the only part of 4th edition I miss.
