ArMD Crowdfunding Launch Party

It was some time ago...

Do whatever is easier and one of us can chop it up for the primer that is slowly congealing in another thread.

In a revival earlier this year, Bundle of Holding featured all of the 5th Edition books, but what those cost depend on a moving target.

Lemme do some digging...

  • Ars Magica 5 World of Magic (April 2024 resurrection), average price $27.35,
  • Ars Magica 5 Mythic Europe (April 2024 resurrection), average price $26.52
  • Ars Magica 5 Wizards And Power (April 2024 resurrection), average price $27.33
  • Ars Magica 5 More Magic (April 2024 resurrection), average price $22.88
  • Ars Magica 5E (April 2024 resurrection), average price $27.46

So that was $131.54 total for the 5E line. I don't think those bundles included Black Monks and Fallen Fane, which are in the Backerkit sets.

Will we do a revival of one or more of these bundles someday? Maybe. The last time we had done an Ars Magica Bundle of Holding was 2019. So "someday" may be "five or ten years from now for one or more of those bundles." Similarly, I have no idea what Future Me might do in terms of digital bundles and sales on the Atlas Games web store.

In summary... I think the $150 is a very good deal.

Re VTT That's great - I've messaged Alchemy RPG to see if they are interested (they recently brought in VtM). I also shared the atlas games approach with them from your website and they said it's pretty compatible with how they work. Might look at in 2025. FYI this is their creator program.

Ultimately it'll take one of the two parties to reach out to each other

Now, Mythic Venice is within reach.
I got the pdf a few days ago, and the work if phenomenal. So I don't regret at all paying for it, even knowing that I will likely get it for free. Such work deserved being paid.
So if you want to support Mr Ferguson, grab a copy now for a measly 5 USD, just to send a few more dollars his way

Just picked up a copy since I also want to encourage writers.

EDIT: I just put on my newest batch of mead, an apple pie cyser. And while mixing it up I started wondering what would be the official beverage of Ars Magica. Considering fermentation time, secondary, and minimum aging I could most likely get something finalized by shipping day if I started in the next month or two. Sure I could not ship any (pesky government rules) but would be happy to share the final recipe.

If people are interested I'll start a new thread where we can talk about it.

A couple years ago -- before Covid -- I was making a bunch of cider, cyser, mead, metheglins, and random foraged fruit wines like chokecherry and rose hip. Some of them were pretty good! Cyser in general is awfully nice stuff. I like the addition of apple tartness to the sweetness of a strong mead.

Try finishing it with whole cinnamon and baking spices, a little baked apple and oats, and a shot of bourbon before bottling. If done right it taste way more like apple pie than any apple pie moonshine.

As for the $675k stretch goal (standard map under CC): Will you release the original file with layers? This would make localisation efforts much easier.

@John_Nephew
Thanks for that calculation - I'll add it to my add on. Don't tell my wife.

I also messaged Alchemy VTT asking them to add AM and included Atlas terms and they responded:
"We’d love to bring Ars Magica to Alchemy. The best way to help us get those conversations started is to reach out directly to the publisher and let them know you’d like to see their games on Alchemy. These type of suggestions really go a long way when coming from members of the community, such as yourself."

I think expanding AM to newer VTT platforms would open up the game to newer players and reduce the learning curve.
This is there website Creator Partner Program — Alchemy

My match making is done - fingers crossed somebody decides to make the first move

I don't actually know if we have a layered file for that map.

The main point in making it CC BY-SA is to make sure that people can redraw it as they like while including things like all the Tribunal borders and Hermetic locations, without having any worry about copyright issues.

With the new adoption of CC BY-SA, VTT's should not need any special permission or license from us -- as long as they comply with the license, they don't need any involvement from us. Which is good, because we have no expertise in setting up material for VTTs, and are not likely to acquire that skill set any time soon.

Just going to say the blue text on blue sky on the cover of Mythic Venice is hard to read.

Sorry about that. Too difficult to change, unfortunately
