I've noticed that metacreator does not allow using assistants to aid in the work with familiars, and queried Alter Ego about this, and got this response:
After consultation with David Chart, we decided to leave this as is.
Since binding a familiar forms an intensely personal bond, it doesn't really make sense for other magi to be involved, especially if the other magi contributed more than the magus himself.
The rules don't explicitly forbid this, but other similar processes (attuning talismans) don't allow the participation of other magi.
However, other magi may contribute to the adding additional powers to the familiar. The software allows this.
Since this was something I would never have read from the rules as printed, I thought I should share it with you.

I personnally am against this ruling.
Having your Master help you to bind your familiar is a nice story hook. I'd hate having that option removed.

Yes... and what if you have an apprentice? Or does Metacreator actually treat that differently?

No difference there - the way metacreator does this, it disallows any assistant. And as far as I understood it, they do it like this after discussing it with mr Chart.
