Honorus studies all of the doors and listens to Rabanus' magic detection spell.
"I can try to open the door with the crossed out marker first. Although I would suspect that it is the most likely to have nothing in it."
Arturous nods at Honorus
"Lets try it"
Honorus hums very softly to himself as he examinees the stone round the target door once more before casting.
ReTe5(base 2, +1 part, +1 control, +1 touch) Move the doorway ( the stone making the doorway) 1m to the center of the room. If I move the doorway I can move the door with it.
The spell works as planned.
David becomes as white as a sheet.
The room has arcane symbols on the floor. Several large items can be found, aligned with the arts (including a throne decorated with semi-precious stones, and a mechanical device simulating the heavenly spheres, and a delictely decorated mirror. Each of them is worth a pound or more. All them are too heavy and/or fragile for one person to carry.
Together with the designs on the walls and the floor, it is a complete large set of props for ceremonial magic. Transporting all of them to a different location might be possible, although complicated - and require 2 seasons and a large enough room to set them up.
David recovers from the shock of spellcasting. Recognizing a treasure when he sees one, he sinks to his knees and thanks his God, mingling German, Yiddish and another language in his exitement.
ooc: one could argue whether jebrick's spell is part or group, but well...
ooc I was unsure of the construct of a roman cellar. Carved or blocks. If it was blocks of stone then group is better. Otherwise Part works better. Just let me know either way.
That was what I had in mind. Can't expect you to read my mind. Anyway, the spell worked.
ooc: Please take the time to look at Archimedes first draft. You are all given veto rights - use them wisely.
"Impressive" Arturous murmurs as he watches Homorus work his magic.
Once the spell is completed, he carefully peers into the room.
"What do you make of this? The covenant magical storehouse? The items seem too cumbersome to carry with us, and I would hate to leave without fully examining them…"
He looks over to the other rooms
"Perhaps we could gain entrance to the other chambers through this one, by destroying the common walls between them. It would have been an unexpected, not to mention a near impossible, way to gain access to the sanctums when the Aegis was up. We might be able to circumvent some of the defenses that way."
Honorus will open the unmarked door just to see where it leads.
The unmarked door has already been opened by Arturous. It leads to a room with sleeping pallets and barrels and a table and cleaning stuff etc - looks like a room with stuff for servants.
A few things are well-made, but nothing so expensive that it might look like treasure.
Hildegard nods: "Destroying the walls may be a good idea. That allows us to stay away from the door. Who knows what we can find inside. Don't make the hole to big though - I don't want to be buried here."
Honorus nods. " Let me give it some thought."
He enters the room that he just opened and examines the walls. He is careful to avoid stepping in or on the designs on the floor.
Most of the walls to the sancti look Roman, just like the rest. The exception is one door-sized bit of wall (on the left wall) which looks somewhat less sophisticated.
Honorus pauses.
"hmmm. what do you make of this? Newer work sealing up a door. I'll try here first. This will not be easy as the others."
Honorus begins his pacing back and forth arguing with someone in low tones. Sometimes pausing to tap the wall with his hand or feel a joint...Shakes his head..keeps pacing.
ReTe 5 (base 2 +1 touch, +1 part, +1 control) Make a portion of the wall swing open like a door.
(ooc: I think Part is correct. Looking at some examples from the main rule book)
(occ: luck of the die making Honorus looks good in front of an audience)
1d10+23=24
Roll of 1
1d10=3
follow up roll of 3. total 3x2+23 = 29.
The wall elegantly swings to the side. The door is shaped rather oddly - the triangular sigil is obvious - but perfectly functional.
You can peer into a lab. A lab that was plundered. Someone has taken away some of the more expensive pieces of equipment, leaving a very basic lab.
"Let's try the last sanctum" Artuorus says, after glancing at the empty lab.
Honorus faces the last wall and takes a deep breath.
"I think everyone owes me a beer after this." He says with a smile.
After a moment of concentration...
ReTe 5 (base 2 +1 touch, +1 part, +1 control) Make a portion of the wall swing open like a door.
((I'm not making this up. there is a big botch coming my way
))
1d10+23=24
1d10=4
8+23=31
The last sanctum smells even dustier than the one before. When you look into the room you see some more incomplete lab equipment (put together those two rooms might form to basix or one normal lab - but combining them into a lab will cost a season).
There is one strange apparatus in the room. It looks like some copper astronomical device with a lot of wheels and clockwork, adorned with the planetary symbols - clicking and moving almost imperceptibly. It must be magical somehow. Like a clock, it has a hand: The hand is an actual hand taken from a marble statue (pointing somewhere), tied to a metal rod that turns in a circle: At one point it will strike a silver bell - but it is hard to say whether this is days, months or years into the future.

Honorus moves carefully into the room. Looking at the floor and walls first before examining the device. He will try to get a feel of where the hand/wand is pointing when it would strike the bell. This might make him walk up stairs to get his bearings again on north.
He further examines the position of the planets and the workings.
"Arturous. Have you ever done a spell that would fix an image in your head so that you could recall it later perfectly? My house has something to draw it out but I have not learned it yet and it is more for buildings than clockworks."
