Well, I am ready to go talk to the Knights. What is this...a magical dove? Errrgh! Now we are actively spied upon?!

Well, I am ready to go talk to the Knights. What is this...a magical dove? Errrgh! Now we are actively spied upon?!
[color=red]That's great... It seems there are more forces at work than may appear at first glance.
The question is, were we the ones being spied upon? Or was it the knight?
Krispin smiles genuinely back, utterly unintimidated, and winks. [color=red]“As you prefer, dear lady.â€
[color=red] The dove seemed relatively harmless, although if it resisted Justus’ magic it may have a greater role to play than we know. I saw it myself, and it looked intelligent although perhaps a little mischievous. These are traits of the Fey, typically, or at least something fairly benevolent. I think if we don’t annoy it we have little reason to be concerned.
[color=green]Odilio
[color=red]I believe that you have agreed to help the knight with the exception of my overprotective younger sister. I will go and tell him of your gracious acceptance. I beleive hr would like to sail on the noon tide tommorrow if that is convenient for you. Perhaps the Dove was a good omen from God for your Journey.
In any event you are all welcome to attend the Evening mass we hold , and the lay brothers will bring you food here. Now I must be about my duties as I have much to do before I leave tommorrow
Unless anyone has something else they want of Odillio he leaves , and about half an hour later some lay brothers bring food. The food is simple but well prepared.
Nothing else happens before the morning unless you wish to do something
[color=red]Krispin I can assure you that the dove where magical. I managed to get that information just out of the things resistance to my craft. However it could have been infernal, but a infernal dove would sound silly to most. If the swordsman hadn’t been there I would have tried to get an arcane connection. That however where not possible, although it could have been useful.
[color=blue]OOC: I use a computer that I think Bonisagus himself invented so I don’t have a spell checking system. I hope that I get my meening through any way.
Mariella chooses to attend the evening mass, do any of the other magi .
[color=green]Heinrich
To Odilio before he left - [color=red]Please be sure to tell the knight that we are independently asking for passage to Denmark and we are pleased to assist them if needed.
Heinrich will attend mass also.
[color=green]Odilio
[color=red]So you do not wish them to pay you for your assistance? Is this to do with those odd rules my sister has told me of
[color=red]Indeed, kind monk. Odd, but orderly. An ongoing debate - in theory and practice - in our law.
All he can get from the sailors about what happened is wild rumors it seems a sudden and terrible storm from a clear sky hit and wrecked the ship , with pirates arrivng just as the storm stopped but their shipsbeing unharmed by the storm. Some other versions have big sea monsters.
The ship is fully crewed and not hiring, it is a warship employed by the Knights of the sword and has a large crew as unlike most merhcant ships it is designed to operate under both oars and sails
The mass is unspectacular , although many monks give suspicous looks at Heinrich and Mariella particularly Mariella nothing is said to them.
The night passes unventfully and the mages are woken at dawn by Lay brothers bringing breakfast to the magi. The lay brothers also bring a message from Odillio saying that the Knights are greatful for the offer of help and would welcome the magi to come to their ship before 11 Bells as it needs to sail shortly after that to catch the noon tide.
Mariella indicates she will be staying and wishes her fellow magi good luck on the voyage , she says she will endeavor to ensure that the covenant is still standing when they return.
in a Baltic brogue [color=red]Well, shipmates! We best be earnin' our sealegs. Let's cast off...
Justus keeps a low profile while boarding the ship. Odd things that he see he´ll try to use comprehend magic upon. Otherwise he keeps to himself and let the others shine.
[color=red]Nope! Why would I?
[color=red]
Well, of course, things would be great if they could, say, pay Siegfried and Alberich for their help... And we'd be happy to follow our "friends" on their travel
[color=green]Heinrich
[color=red] Aye!!
Krispin does not attend mass, but is quite circumspect about not doing so. This is also his normal practice at the covenant.
[color=red] Indeed. We are not servants or hirelings, and have no great need of coin. As Ardath said, if they could pay our friends, I believe that would be fair.
After dealings at the monastery are finished, Krispin comes aboard the Kraken. He maintains a low profile, but keeps an eye out for the white dove or anything else out of the ordinary. He also makes sure to take the simple apothecary equipment in his saddlebags with him.
The magi depart the monastery and travel down to the Docks where they are to board the Kraken.
The Kraken is a larger version of a Norse Longship , with banks of oars along its side and is fairly slender rather than the rounder merchant ships although it does have raised Forecastle and Sterncastle. It clearly has a large crew of both oarsmen and marines , the marines wear the surcoats which identify them as Sergeants in the Knights of the Sword , the Captain and three other men who meet you at the dock are wearing the surcoats of Knights of the Sword and include the somewhat arrogant Wolfgang.
Apparently the knights are dealing with Siegfried a man who they find less difficult to deal with than the magi. They have agreed to pay him a substantial sum of Silver for his aid ,although he realtes they are puzzled by the fiction you wish maintained of paying him rather than the magi.
The magi are shown to a room below the deck towards the aft of the ship which has been hastily fitted out with 5 cots. It is cramped , damp and somewhat smelly but seems to be better accomodation than most of the crew have.
Siegfried exlains that they are sailing to Copenhagen and expect the journey to take around seven days depending on the winds and other conditions. They intend to stop at Lubeck on route after about 2 days of travel to top up water and other fresh supplies.
The crew does look suspicously at the magi particularly Ardeth and Justus. But their officers seem to have them well in hand.
[color=green]Heinrich
Upon boarding the ship, Heinrich attempts to make short, curt conversation with Captain or other ranking knight - while boarding the ship - [color=red] The last ship - was it ambushed before or after Lubeck? How many days out?
[color=blue]ooc - Is Wolfgang the knight at the monastery who beseeched us to protect the knights?
Heinrich keeps an eye out for the fella who was first amazed to see us when we entered town. At the very least, for "trivia" reasons.
When alone with his sodales - [color=blue]ooc - how does one spont a anti-eavesdropping spell? - I don't waltz Perdo at all - I'll try something based on notes below if not I'll whisper while making extraneous noise. ; ) - [color=red]Lubeck! I did not expect to be bound back towards Oculus, but perhaps it will serve more than a mere nostalgic trip.
[color=blue]Anti-eavesdropping spell: Muto Imaginem? Level 1/base 1 change one sensation - human voices to quiet breeze? Range: eye/touch +1; duration: concentration +1; target: room +2? oh, oh! that's at least a level 20 spell? Any better ideas?
[color=blue] Your anti-eavesdropping spell would be MuIm5, which is easy enough for Heinrich to spont. Base 1 +1 Touch +1 Diam (hard to talk if you're concentrating on maintaining the spell) +2 Room = Level 5, since adding magnitudes below level 5 only adds one level, not 5 - see ArM5 p.114 under "Changing Ranges, Durations, and Targets".
Krispin lays down his things a cot, not at all bothered by the cramped quarters. Once they're alone:
[color=red] "Seven days. So we're down to just over two weeks to find the source of the vision once we arrive in Copenhagen. Though none of us are experts in Auram, I think we all have enough Creo to ensure we arrive in a timely manner, if it comes to that. I'm certainly not above a little cheating" .
"If there is a magical storm coming, I'd like to be prepared for it, but I think none of us is skilled enough in Intellego and Auram to predict weather. We may be going into this blind."
"I have a proposal: while we're on board, one of us stays awake at all times. If there's a storm in the middle of the night, we need someone able to tell if it's magical and able to wake the rest of us up. Plus, we still don't know to what extent we can really trust our good hosts."
[color=red]Agreed, although we should include heinrich and the grogs in this.
What bothers me more, however, is that we are unable to do anything should we be confronted by a storm.
If things comes to that, the knights might very well turn on us.
I don't like feeling so powerless
