[color=red]Soldaes shall we perceive this Parma guarded dolphin as a threat or shall we summon it somehow. I can either comprehends it’s magic more, though that isn’t legal or we can with some slight muto imaginem amplify our voices enough to let it know that it has been spotted and that we wish to talk to it. I am counting on that we meet this fishy character again as we sail out. Justus smiles slightly and maintains a hunched voice as he speaks.
[color=green]Heinrich
[color=red]Yes, but, if we're going to try to communicate let me start with the silent attempt first. to Justus - exaggerating a kid's voice [color=red]Oh, please, Justus! laughing
[color=blue]I forgot to give the full description of the spell - it's formulaic
The Silent Conspiracy
CrMe 15
R: Sight, D: Concentration, T: Individual
While the caster concentrates, they can form words directly into the mind of anyone within sight. The target recognises your voice and knows the message is of supernatural origin.
[color=blue]If I’m not mistaken, Heinrich must penetrate in order to succeed at casting this. If he did penetrate, it could be construed as a magical assault, or at least bad manners, since he’d have breached another wizard’s Parma. If he’s reckless or youthful enough (or knows something we don’t, like that it’s not actually a Hermetic magus), though, go for it.
[color=red] “If it’s guarded by a Parma, we must assume it’s a Hermetic magus and deal with it accordingly. That may not in fact be the case, but we’re already treading near the boundaries of the Code by helping the Knights this way – let’s not give anyone any reason to suspect us. I think communicating civilly with it is the best course to start. We can hope he or she is simply curious.â€
Krispin bides his time, waiting for them to sail out of Lubeck again. He keeps his eyes peeled for the dolphin.
[color=blue]Ahhhh, thanks!
[color=red]Oh. You won't believe how much I long to see it
As per the dolphin:
[color=red]Well, I don't like very much letting him show he's been spotted, as it seems to me he's been spying on us. But then, things might be interesting, and you seem to want that, so go for it. However, I must agree with Krispin on Parma.
Yannick is flies to the local covenant but in the time available is unnable to locate any of the magi as they are all out on business.
The magi board the Kraken again as it rows out of the harbour its cask's replenished with water and fresh food onboard.
The magi gather at the rear of the ship some distance from the steersman and the steering oar looking for the Dolphin. This attracts attention from the crew who are wondering what makes them congreagate there .The Knight Wolfgang heads over and asks if the magi have detected some threat from witchcraft and sorcery.
About the same time the dolphin is seen again following the ship
Euh... I'm not so sure I wanna go on that boat again... :lol
As per wolgang's question, I look at him with a tired face
[color=red]Well, I guess I could say that this rowing thing is sorcery, I've never felt as ill in my entire life T-T
OOC
I was waiting for responses.
I am not clear how of if anyone was speaking to the Dolphun or if anyone except Ardeth was answering Wolfgang
I'll progress late today or early tommorrow unless responses indicate more discussion
[color=blue]Heinrich was using Ardath's comments as distraction from having to debrief a Knight too early. I think the parma discussion left Justus' communication the default setting. : ) Heinrich makes to pat Ardath lightly on the upper back almost as if she had been choking.
[color=red]Ahhh... poor lady. You'd think the sea air itself has poisoned her, too.
Justus looks at Wolfgang and says, [color=red]Sir there hasn’t been any thing yet that we need to report. We where simply discussing the a few of the finer points in the mistress Triamoras work “The application of Momentous magic’s, To communicate from afar or await and see what happensâ€. I know it may sound as a strange title for a book but then again there are a few strange things when it comes to magic. I where simply stating that the validity of the chapter concerning from afar where correct but I think that Ardath here where thinking that the chapter of await and see is the path to wisdom. Have you ever read that book sir Wolfgang? Perhaps I am not addressing you at the right title, please tell me so that I won’t insult your honour. Is there any way that we can assist you or your crew at this moment? Justus steps a little bit close and sideways to Wolfgang so that the other magi are a little more undisturbed.
Krispin grins and hides his smile in his hand at Justus' response. With the attention of the crew on them, drawing attention to their interest in the dolphin can only cause problems. He will wait for the discussion to subside. Plus, any magic used to contact is would have to be more subtle than his Arts will allow. He may wait for an opportunity later, but since it doesn’t seem to be causing trouble he will leave it alone… for now.
After Justus draws Wolfgang away, Krispin murmurs to the other magi.
[color=green] In Latin:[color=red] With eyes on us, we should not trouble ourselves overmuch right now. Perhaps later. For myself, I will watch, and wait.
Wolfgang glares at Ardeth but is obviously mollified by the detailed explanation from Justus and relaxes a bit.
[color=red]Be ready, we expect the attack to come soon so we will be driven ashore away from Denmark
He turns and heads back to the captain and other knights obviously glad to be away from the magi
[color=red]
Oh yes! It would have been a lot wiser of me to wait on solid, faithful earth
To use imagonem to create a voice to speak to the dolphin without being overheard on the boat requires sight range
CrIm 10 (1+1intelligible speech +3 sight +1 concnetration) which I don't think any of you can spont while in a divine aura of 1 .
So at the moment I think there is no plan for communication .....
So I continue . But if there is a plan I overlooked let me know
The journey continues without any noticable problems or other issues (Except that Ardeth continues to feel miserable) for another three days at which time the ship is proceding up the coast of Denmark towards the Skaggarak. It is then that a storm strikes the ship , coming from a fairly clear sky the storm strikes without warning.
Justus can sense no magic in the storm but the captain and crew do not beleive it to be natural . The strength of the storm is such that the ship has no choice pending magical inteference to run before the storm towards the rocky swedish coast and hope that the storm blows out or that they can find a safe place to come ashore.
The crew and officers clearly believe that this is magical and are looking at the magi expectantly
[color=blue]
Magic
for Re Au this is base level of 4 for severe weather
Perdo auran base level 10
Lesser Auram spells may be useful but will only mitigate the effects
Re Aq 10 break the oncoming wave would make the boat much safer , it would still be blown before the storm but would not be in danger of swamping.
Other ideas welcomed
Yanick could fly over to the dolphin and hit him on the head with his beak, then shout to him: Get over to that ship and talk.
But that'll be after the storm...
ReHe the boat to the shore?
Or maybe... this is a little weird... but i think Yannick will give it a try:
[color=blue]MuAu/Im: Change the storm into seven measures of stormy music.
I can only hope for a good stress roll here...
You have time to try this before the storm if you wish
For that matter, Heinrich will try waving discretely at the dolphin (arm over edge of deck - out of sight of crew) or if there's a safe-seeming ladder or net rigging on the hull o' th' ship and calm seas, I'd climb down with a sodale being my 'man overboard' safety.
The Dolphin seems to ignore being waved at , and stays at least 50 yards from the ship menaing that climbing down will not get you much closer to it
As soon as the wind picks up, Krispin decides to see what he can do about Ardath’s seasickness. He acts quickly in hopes of recovering his energy before it’s needed in the storm. Pulling her aside, he speaks with her quietly and urgently.
[color=red] Apologies for my rudeness, dear lady, but we need you in good condition in case we face a storm, as it looks like we might. If you will consent and lower your Parma, I would like to try to cure your seasickness. I know this is unorthodox and you have not known me long, but we need you in the best condition possible. He pauses, and touches her shoulder. [color=red] I swear I will not knowingly harm you or allow you to be harmed. Please let me help you.
[color=blue] If Ardath agrees, Krispin will try to heal her seasickness with Creo Corpus. He will create the most effective healing he possibly can lasting a duration of not less than Sun (alas, Diam. isn’t enough even with Enduring Magic. Hopefully with EM Sun will be more than enough time). I’m not sure what the base would be, I’m going for more of an “infuse with energy†CrCo spell than a “miraculous recovery†CrCo spell – I need her functional, not necessarily happy. Hopefully base will be low enough for me to actually do something.
I’d cast ceremonially, but I probably don’t have the 45 minutes to an hour I suspect I’d need. I will use bold voice/exaggerated gestures, however. The crew can deal with a little weirdness. Legs of the Seafarer Base? +1 Touch +2 Sun. (Cr10 + Co9 + Affinity 9 + Sta 2 + 2 voice and gestures + Aura? + stress)/2
If someone else tries something more effective first (Fury’s ReCo idea would probably be easier, but that might require time for Ardath and the crew to adjust that we may not have), never mind.
As the storm approaches, Krispin’s face darkens also, his eyebrows knitting together as he considers what to do. Taking up his walking stick, he goes out on deck. Scanning the sky, smelling the wind, he shakes his head. Too much to do and too little time.
He quickly speaks to his sodales. [color=red] "Unless some of you are holding out on me, I do not think we can stop or prevent this storm. I think we should try to see it safely to the coast and prevent as much damage as we are able.
I think I will try to create a wind that will blow us to the coast. Yannick, Ardath and Justus, perhaps you could aid me or try to mitigate the storm? Heinrich, could you deal with the crew?"
