As soon as the battle is over, Krispin rushes over to attend to Justus' wound, using magic on it if his sodalis will permit, or just Chirurgy if not. He also attends to the grog who went berserk and any injuries that might have resulted from that, having another of the grogs accompanying them carefully cut away the thick vines that have sprouted up.
Once everyone directly under his care is safe, Krispin walks over to the sleeping Nestor. Before any of his sodales can object, he places a hand on the injured wizard's chest and invokes Restoration of the Mangled Body to begin the healing process. He is prepared to cast Call to Slumber again at any moment.
[color=red]Hold him, if possible make him sleep until we can take proper care of him. Perhaps we shall make a stretcher to carry the magus back with us. Make sure that no guards touch his body. Ardath could you stay here with Krispin and I go search the laboratory in hope of finding any materials. If we can take Nestor back then our Aegis should keep him calm and without too much power. Justus start walking into the lab searching for anything useful.
Krispin is able to treat Justus and finds that the Grogs have no injuries the berserk grog was restrained before any fighting took place. Only Justus and Riccardo where injured in the fighting.
Justus then heads to the laboratory while Krispin is checking the grogs and Riccardo before freeing Nestor so he can aid him.
Within the laboratory Justus is able to locate the lab notes on whatever Nestor was currently researching they are in shorthand and very difficult to understand but is clear that they end abruptly .
The other books seem to be Four hermetic texts, and a couple of books written by magi from the covenant of Heorot on Norse legends and the Baltic sea area.
He also finds a two large locked Sea chests.
Krispin casts Restoration of the Mangled Body (succesfully no botch and penetrated Nestors Parma) upon the unconcious form of Nestor when he does so the body convulses and bllod pours form Nestors Orifices at a dreadful rate. (Incapacitating wound)
At the same time there is a gout of blood from the Yew tree and the ground begins to shake.
His face ashen, Krispin looks upon the still injured Nestor. [color=red]What, that was… what…. I was treating him for his wound…
He looks up at his fellow magi as the ground begins to shake beneath them. [color=red] Healing magic seems to be the bane of this spirit, but I fear my arts are killing him. I think perhaps we should take Nestor’s body and run, unless one of you has a better idea of what’s going on.
Krispin finds it almost impossible to tend the wounds of Nestor they are serious and all of his attempts to close the wounds to stop bleeing seem to fail as the wounds seem to reopen.
The Shaking of the ground seems to be getting worse
Justus grabs whatever books or scrolls he can find that seems to give any clue. Then he rushes out to Krispin. We should get out of this accursed land. We have an arcane connection to Nestor so we can harm him with our spells. Can you take him with us or should we just run for it?
Ardeth and Krispin lift Nestor between then while the grogs help Riccardo , Justus emerges from the buiding bearing a selection of paperwork . The shaking of the ground is getting worse but none of them can see an exit from the clearing they are in .
However Justus can tell that the magical aura within the clearing is dropping .
Justus holds on to the documents and run for it. Hoping that his soldaes will follow. If no one will object he suggest that they make their way back to the covenant.
The shaking subsides and looking around the group realise that they have departed the regio and are back in the normal world, to Krispin, Justus and Ardeth they appear to be close to the grove that lead them into the regio. There are a few changes the collapsed ruin of the mages hut has also been expelled from the regio but there is no sign of Nestor.
Looking into the grove neither Ardeth or Justus can see any signs of a Regio boundary. However it does appear that some of the overly red berries on thorn bushes in the grove contain vis. Snow is starting to fall again.
Unless there is an objection the Grove will be a Vis source producing 3 pawns of Corpus vis and 3 Pawns of Mentam vis every year from ther berries
Justus pause to look around. Are the documents he is holding still in his hands? Now this was strange… Justus mutters to himself. Soldaes… what do you make of this? Justus look at his soldaes to see if anyone of them has some idea.
As his soldaes seems preoccupied with recovering from the great escape Justus sits down on a rock and starts going through the documents that he has gotten hold off.
Based on a quick reading of Nestor's notes Justs is able to discover the following
-Several years ago Nestor discovered a shrine belonging to what he thought was the order of Odin but deserted
-Initially he was able to extract vis from it and was researching some other things
-He was attacked at the grove by some bandits and they and his grogs where killed he noticed that the emotions of the battle and the blood spilled created more vis and stirred the spirits into action
He then studied the spirits , he discovered they where spirits of anger and rage he came to the conclusion that they where magical rather than infernal
He experimented by sending several of them to infect bandits , and then he discovered every time those bandits took part in battles more Vis was generated and the spirits grew more powerful , firthermore anyone who touched the blood of oneof those possessed was possessed.
-One day he made a mistake and got possessed by one of the spirits before he got rid of it he noticed that he could control the spirit and draw magical enery through the connection sometimes at the expense of the none gifted infected with the spirits.
He was impressed by this new power and decided to explore its use, Justus thinks that from this point on Nestors thoughts where influenced by the spirit possessing him
He decided to test the spirits by arranging for larger battles and more intense emotions
As part of this he sponsored a group of pirates ensuring that they where all possessed by the spirits. He collected from them much of their loot as they where deathly afraid of him
A while ago he arranged the hijacking of merchant ship carrying a church envoy
Things went badly wrong as isntead of collecting a ransom and murdering the churchmen to test the effects of the divine on the psirit link most of the pirates where killed by a ruthlessly angry Hermetic maga called Mariella
She was covered in the blood and did not realise the spirits where present , he did not contact her because he was afraid she would bring in quasitors as he was sponsoring pirates and had aided them with magic
She became infected at this point the power of the spirit possessing hime became much greater and it is Justus impression that the spirit took over
-The rest is a few scrawls it seems that he lost interest in the notes but in occasional lucid moments he not only feared the Spirit he feared that Mariella would take over him as she was much more attuned to the spirits than him by personality but fortunatly she was not conciously aware of them
The other books seem to be some books on Hermetic magic
A summae on Mentam and Tractatii on Mentam, Corpus , Vim and Magic theory
(I thought that having the villain make comprehenisve notes to explain the plot was helpful)
Once everyone can stand up they take the treasures back to the covenant. Justus is most happy with the loot and hopes to free Mariella from the spirit.
Nestor seems to have expired from his injuries despite Krispin's best efforts at chirurgy . He thinks that there where ongoing magical effects due to the collapse of the regio.
The rest of the group are able to travel with no problems although Riccardo is still suffering from his injuries although they are much better after Krispins ministrations.
The journey back to the covenant is moderatly unpleasent as the snow is still on the ground and it starts snowing as the group heads back towards the covenant. As the sky is obscured it is impossible to tell the time of day but it is clearly daylight
Riccardo has recovered to having a Heavy Wound rather than being incapitated , so he could walk or the grogs could carry him. His horse is at the covenant unless it has a magical power to find its rider in which case it will have wondered off and be joining you imminently
The group heads back towards the covenant , the easiest route is to walk to the road to the covenant and then head up the road it will be a couple of hours for the group to get back to the covenant
