Early use of a the circle/ring ward (example)

Circle ring spell anyone?

Very cool. Here's the version of the spell that's been transferred down to the modern order through the work of Fencil of Gurnicus in his early investigations of the cult of Mercury (prior to his discovery of the so called rituals of Fenci)

Will of the Senate

R: Touch, D: Ring T: Circle
Targets within the circle at the time of casting are unable to leave the target circle until they have performed an action specified by the caster at the time of casting.
(base 15 I think that this comes in easier than the "complex command" +1 touch,+2 ring)
