Introductory event, magnificent abode. submissions

Hi,

Sorry for my delay, I've been out of town, and my expected internet access was less accessable than I expected.

I'll need tonight to clean up my stuff, and then will post tomorrow.

Erik, I'm almost done with Years 6-10. Thanks for the rolls. I'm now wondering about income. In Covenants it suggests a typical lesser source will provide 40 lb silver per year. I'm guessing we're lower than that at the moment, but I need to know exactly how much lower.

Amadeus has saved the covenant money on farming by producing better crops and on lighting and heating because of some spells. I figure that doesn't really produce any income, though. I know how much money he got from being part of the ritual to create gold. I'm stuck on how much income his Valle di Ferro wines and other alcohols will bring in. I also don't know what percentage we'll get of our own designs.

Thanks,
Chris

The basic problem confronting a Creo magi is how to introduce created products in ways that will not create mundane difficulties. This is difficult, in that most, if not all resources in Mythic Europe are embedded in a complex network of customary and usefrect rights.

The goal therefore was to create items of value, but not ones that would compete with local produce, destabilize the local economy, or create mundane opposition to Harald's activities. In addition, Harald sought to find ways of generating valuable items which would have a secondary beneficial effect.

The solution lay in transforming Harald's lab into a greenhouse for sought-after plants. Saffron, indigo, and other luxury spices and dyes are in demand, but are not local products. Even producing them on a small scale, and selling at what would constitute a small market loss, will generate a steady cash stream of use. It has the additional benefit of developing Harald's contacts with local merchants (to whom he sells his plants), which will help him acquire rare or high-quality lab equipment with his new wealth.

Other activities in this period included the development of his Magic Theory and Area Lore (particularly local merchants). Harald spends his free time exploring the covenant and its environs, and has a working knowledge of the terrain and people by the end of the five year period. He also has begun accumulating vis for his longevity ritual, which, while not a challenge, will be a defining feature of the next five year period. As a Creo specialist, he is able to generate a reasonable amount of vis through distillation, and will be well situated to make both an effective ritual for himself, and to offer his services in trade to other covenant members.

In terms of mechanics, Harald will earn cash by cultivating rare plants (for which he will find a market through his improved area lore, with a specialisation in merchants). At the same time, he improves his lab by having it filled with growing things. He has concentrated his xp in Magic Theory and Area Lore, and is well on the way to preparing his longevity ritual. At the end of the process, he should have 2 new spells, a item that turns any room into a hospitable growing environment for plants, and 2 In, 2 Co, and 8 Vi Vis.

Are we still going? I've been waiting on a reply to an earlier question or two. I had years 6-10 almost done a while ago.

One more question while I'm at it: should we consider time away involved in anything (searching for familiars, searching for apprentices, dealing with initiations, etc.) to be the same adventure experience for the season?

Chris

I didn't see your post and had thought that you all just stopped.

Tell me what you think that it's worth. A third as much as a minor source, half as much?
What do you want to use the information for?

Assume that on a regular basis you get at least half of what your efforts gain the covenant. On occasion you can get more. (once every few years)

could you point me to the relevant post?

The same as what? I don't understand the question?

I'm honestly not sure what it would be worth. A fraction of a minor source is a nice way to do it. I'll be fine with whatever fraction you say.

I'm trying to figure out how much spare silver I have on hand to work on my lab.

OK, I'll just assume half of the profit. Of course, how much is profit? Perhaps it's easiest to say something like we get 10% of the gross income. The net income is harder to handle.

Look specifically at Year 3 money, Year 4 winter and money, Year 5 summer and money, and the items listed further below within his 1st 5 years.

Chris

The same as each other. Earlier you said how much experience I got when searching for my familiar. I'm just wondering if we should treat all seasons away in the same manner for ease's sake.

Chris

I thought to vary the xp award on the basis of the description of the adventure. I
