Medieval lead mining pollution found in ice cores

Researchers found proof of lead production increases and decreases in Alpine ice cores.

I believe it - in Why Nations Fail, they pointed out that you can see lead pollution via ice core samples peak and then decrease throughout the Roman Empire's rise and fall. I believe the Ice Cores were from Greenland.

Yeah, there's not much else than lead mining/smelting that would produce measurable lead levels in ice cores.
