I often have to add disclaimers to jokes just so everyone will know what is going on.

Carboninated water doesn't really exist back in the 13th century, so magic would have a hard time reproducing it. Carbonated water was invented/discovered in the 19th century. Beer still was fizzy but for different reasons.
