Strategy: This works best in a multi-player game, as its initial open coins are placed, first and foremost, to encourage other players to choose targets other than you (since their attacks will either not work due to Treachery, or they'll get hit with turn loss due to the Black Spot).
As they fight amongst themselves, you can go monkey hunting with your Broadside. ("Monkey hunting" is using Broadside to attack the coin directly in front of an opponent's Captain, on the assumption that it's the most likely location for a protective Captain's Monkey. Since the Monkey can't save itself unless it's an active coin, this is a good way to take out enemy Monkeys before they become a problem.)
The coin-retrieval coins in positions 9-11 are best used in the early stages of the game, to retrieve the high-value Treacheries and Broadside almost as soon as they are destroyed. Pillages do double-duty to deny your opponents their offensive capabilities and bestow those capabilities on you. Cannons are chosen as (admittedly weak) offensive coins because they are not destroyed when used, and are stacked adjacently to give the opportunity to use them both at once in the later stages of the game.
