Poll: Gifted Companions?

I was assuming Gifted Companion was different from a Companion that happened to have the Gift virtue. Specifically a Gifted Companion had opened arts were as a regular Companion would not.

They probably do have Arts opened, just not the Hermetic ones...

I'm referring to the core book, p. 36-37 which specifically indicates that Gifted companions are acceptable. If the question is Hedge traditions or Rival traditions that is actually a slightly different question. For example on p.36 it indicates that a Gifted companion may have 1 free supernatural virtue and should buy the rest, which is countered in hedge magic allowing them to take a entire tradition for free...

If we're relying on RAW p.36 also says:

As a rule, companions should only have The Gift if they are intended to become magi. Troupes should not allow any other Gifted characters unless they are absolutely sure that they want them.

personally I am for allowing the Hedge magic as well, but to forbid all Gifted Companions is going a bit too far IMO even if we want to restrict or reduce the number of hedge witches.

I quite like Hedgies. But it might get a bit risable if there's nearly as many of them as Hermetics at the covenant.

How about, instead of banning Gifted Companions outright, we have a frank discussion about each Gifted companion and decide each one on a case by case basis?

I, for one, have no intention to make a Gifted Companion, and may not even make a companion for some time, though I did suggest I might be interested in a Redcap.
