Atlas will neither be mundane friendly nor an agroalimentary engineer, but being an outdoorsman, he may have the ability to help the covenant overcome these problems in the short run.
Agnarr has ok An art totals if we need projects to be done. Part of what I'm interested in is how we will have to muddle through, with (hopefully) no perfect solutions in place.
Jebrick, is Thyra's "Invisible Sling of Vilano" the same as "Wielding the Invisible Sling," ArM5 p.155? It's listed at ReTe 10 in one tab and ReTe30 in another. If not, please provide a description or reference.
One thing I'm having trouble with is determining who's really there and who expressed interest but didn't follow up. Clearly, since stuff has been updated in the last two weeks for Bartholomeus (me), Calpurnia (thompsja), Agnarr (ironboundtome), Atlas (pyrale), Thyra (jebrick) and Galan (Trogdor), I think it's safe to assume that all of those are still aboard. But I haven't seen anything recent from the others. I know that Bitter was having connection problems, so he's likely to rejoin us at some point. The others I'm not sure about. It'd be nice to indicate "Inactive" at the end of their magus' topic title if they dropped out.
As far as mundane-friendly magus, Barthomolmeus certainly isn't one. In my advancement story, I've relied on a trusted and glib grog to do the recruitment of mundanes (without the approval of my magus, in fact). This "grog" might even turn out to be a companion if we want to develop those.
Though Bartholomeus isn't an "expert" in either An or He, he's got a decent score in both and can easily enchant lesser items (in a single season) of effect level 20+ in any technique for those Forms. I think that anything we can't produce locally we should be able to obtain by trade. He created a few items that can help trade, like his Staff of the Cargo Master, or that reduce expenditures (clean water and firewood). He's also got an item that helps preserve food, so the covenant will be able to stock up during the warmer months for the winter. If it's only for a few months, then there shouldn't be too much worry about Warped food.
I'm done advancing him, too, so all I have left to do is determine how to spend my build points. I was planning on concentrating on a few books and specialists, but if we have other needs I can use my build points there. Does one of the magi know Aegis of the Hearth? Or should we plan a lab text for it?
I'm not inactive, I'm just taking an extremely long time to finish the first draft of my character, during which time everyone else's refined character concepts make me want to change mine. I'm a good couple of revisions in.
For companions there are two Ars trope companions I've not played and would like to - that of a failed apprentice, or a redcap.
JL - will either be disruptive to the themes before I get too excited and start rolling stats?
I'm having a hard time translating the inspirations I have for him (Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea, mainly) into rules and numbers. I'm, and I'm probably going to ship him as barely out of gauntlet (0 to +5 years).
He will probably be a jack of all trades, with a major in Rego and Corpus, for travel.
If you need another possible specialization, the covenant will probably need a longevity specialist at some point, for the younger members (your magus, Calpurnia's apprentice) and perhaps for some of the more valuable mundanes. Perhaps even as a trading chip for mundane allies.
That's just a thought, however. It's your main character so I don't want to push you into something different than what you feel like playing.
