Summer 1222 Tribunal: The Tournament

((Indeed. And she's just stupid enough to take this deal. Plus twice the vis might cost even more for all I know, but...Sinmore does know one or two things about labwork))

Sinmore blanches at the astronomical sum and starts thinking about when she might actually get any vis, let alone such a huge amount when something strikes her.

"Wait a minute. He's made these before. He told me so, and you just said so. Why would it take him 3 seasons to make the same item when he can just use the labtext? So 10 pawns per season and he should have it done in a season right? I mean he is a great Verditius, why would he re-invent these each time and not use a labtext?"

Piper blinks. "Wow. Umm, okay, I guess I have time to prime you on item enchantment," she says, with a this-must-be-your-awful-attempt-at-haggling,-because-you-can't-be-serious look on her face. "First off, you can't have more than one effect in a Lesser Item; these are Invested Devices. That means they take one season just to open for enchantment, above and beyond any subsequent enchantments instilled in them. Now, you can't enchant multiple effects at the same time unless they're all of the same Technique and Form. This particular item requires one season to open it for enchantment, one season to instill the Muto Terram effect that changes its shape, and a third season to instill the Rego Terram effect that summons it to the wielder of the Arcane Connection. Lab texts for the two steps of enchantment are great, whatever, but you still can't enchant a Muto Terram and a Rego Terram effect in the same season." Piper then counts off on her fingers, "One for opening, one for the Muto Terram effect, and one for the Rego Terram effect-- that's three seasons. Do you get it now, or should I introduce you to Astrolabe?"

Sinmore's somewhat smug smile fades. "Blast, I should have listened better, I thought this was a lesser enchanted device." she mumbles and then looks more and more annoyed at the brat's explanation on magic item inventing.

"Well...it sounds like you'll make whoever can afford such an item very happy, if they can put up with your sassy mouth ye little runt. Go back to your master and let him know how your sales technique could use some refinement. He started out trying to give me a gift, then it's going to cost me 3 rooks of vis, now I have to listen to you give me a lecture on how the bloody thing's invented? Get out of my sight before all that's left of you are smoking boots!" Sinmore growls before turning and heading back to the Covenant's campsite. "If ye want to change yer tune and make a reaosnable amount of vis come and see me over here, and ye best have some kinder words for me and a better deal!" she calls back over her shoulder.

((Love to have the item, begging didn't work and any vis Sinmore gets is going to go towards enchanting her familiar))

Piper shrigs. "Your loss," and skips off.

Once back at the camp that they're using, Sinmore will make sure to take stock of her remaining possesions, first and foremost the egg, and then trying to find her purse and anything else that wasn't destroyed in the tournament, which will not be much, it was usually her armour and weapon she always carried. Sinmore will probably have to make do with a large stick (staff) as a great weapon for awhile.
