summer at the oasis

"Of course sir." food is brought in and the man eats voraciously until it is gone, at which point he retreats under the bed to go to sleep.

Does the oasis have an aura?

no it does not

(Would it be OK if Lares joined in on this? Maybe he travelled to check out the oasis and woke up to the commotion.)

(I see no problem if silveroak is up for it, otherwise I will involve the covenant at some point soon anyway  I've been trying to figure out whether Aetherius can do something useful without returning to the covenant and I'm drawing blanks)

This takes place at about the same time as the Cathar negotiations, so you cannot do both.

Aetherius will inquire at the oasis to see if they have the logistics to transport him to the covenant.

They have manacles and devices for handling dangerous animals that you could lead him to the covenant, but wagons would not be able to make it over the rocky mountainous terrain.

And how much time would it take me to go to the covenant?

Two days each direction.

Aetherius will send his familiar to the covenant with the following letter to deliver to one of the magi:
"Sodales. I'm at the oasis. In my study period here, I have found a special creature... or men, I'm not quite sure. It looks like a reptilian humanoid. I'm betting on something between a magic human and an intelligent magic animal, at this point, but quite frankly I don't have the right skills to analyze it or communicate it with it beyond the very basics. It seems relatively harmless and mostly curious, longing for companionship and, well, food and water. If I'm right on its origins, staying outside of a magic aura for long may kill its potential. I'm hoping perhaps one of you would have the skill set I don't have to analyze its true nature and perhaps find a way to communicate with it?"

Assuming the message gets to the covenant, Lares talks it over with the others present, suggesting that they respond: "Have it brought over here. Cover its eyes at a few crossroads so it doesn't find out the way."

Argentius agrees with Lares.

"I suspect I can communicate with it through my ring," adds the artificer. "Maybe."

"Just send a messenger when they arrive," suggests Argentius after a moment. "I've got studies to continue but I'm happy to take a short break to help."

To make a long story short a note is returned by Aetherius' familiar indicating that they would welcome having the beast brought to the covenant.

Aetherius will escort the creature back to the covenant with the recommended measures so he can't memorize the path.

This advanture is worth 5 xp if you chose to take the adventure xp for the season (I expect you will not)

Use of the ring reveals that 1) the creature does have might (5) that acts as magic resistance, you do not know if it started with higher might and acclimated to this level but the reptilian does seem to possess some form of intelligence, and over the course of the season even learns to speak some rudimentary (level:1) Berber, albeit with a strong accent which appears to have biological roots.

I will not partake in adventure XP this time arround. He'll stay for the evening and take part if there is some communication with him, and then return finish his studies at the oasis.

After being back to the covenant, Aetherius would inquire for news. On hearing that the reptilian men has learned some language, and this piece of information, Aetherius will ask the grog who accompanied him to find out more at the oasis. He remembers a caravan inquiring that night, and wonders whether the two caravans are one and the same, and whether the local employees have seen or heard anything suspicious during that timeframe that may provide more clues.

The grog will report back in Spring
