Guys, I'm going to drop Leandra out. I'm just not getting any traction with her: I keep looking at the posts and trying to figure out how and whether she would react, and getting nowhere.
I'll see if I can come up with another magus, or just play Tearlach for a bit.
She has a Sisyphean task. It's more than the task of a Tytalus, it's just too much. The character is hard to grapple with. I think it can make an interesting character, but it's almost impossible to play... Do you have a roadmap of where you see her in 10 years? 15, 20? Can you envision her of getting to the point her House accepts her, let alone her former master?
And from reading her backstory, it appears she was never presented at Tribunal, was she? How many years past "gauntlet" is she?
Maybe her master is in Loch Leglean, and she's here to be properly presented, or something. Or she has to bribe Whitburh to hep her somehow.
I can see why it does get tricky. You seems to be trying to do too many things with the character. Personally, I would lose the function of the lab rat and embrace the Hebrides and the poet. I would also move it to a Ex Misc. Can you see her as a wandering poet through the highlands. Perhaps she is trying to prove herself to the Jerbiton with her art or perhaps she does not care.
IMHO, Insula Canaria is trying to find a reason to exist. Make a magus that WANTS to be in Insula Canaria for some reason. Not just finds-themself-there.
Given the comments received, and given what I originally wanted to do with the character, I'm going to go with scrapping her and coming up with an entirely new one. (My apologies, Fightmaster.) Character will still be female and named Leandra, so as to keep the continuity flowing.
I'm hoping that the Atlas hiccups are on their way to being fixed. But in case they're not, or if they happen again and last a while, I made a back-up site. I'm still poking around, trying to figure stuff out (like how the deuce do I make characters?). But we'll see.
If you've checked out the wiki in the last couple of days, you may have noticed a glitch. Namely, all the pictures/files have disappeared.
I contacted the help desk, and apparently we got caught up in what he described as "a deletion script that went awry (this affected a few other wikis as well)," and he couldn't find any backup for our images.
So, if you'd uploaded any images to the wiki, you might want to go to file list, click on the file name, and "upload a new version of this file." I will be doing so with images that I have saved as I have time, but unfortunately I didn't save copies of all the files to my computer like I should have. I'll try to be better about that this time.
I tracked down and replaced as many of the missing pictures from the wiki as I could. There are still four on the file list that I don't have: pictures of Leandra and Thomas the Rhymer, the covenant vis map, and the second map of the covenant. Three of those are from amul, who hasn't been on the Atlas forums in thre months, so I think I'm going to go ahead and edit the pages that those images were on and delete them from the file list, just so I don't get annoyed every time I see the "broken thumbnail" message. I've saved copies of all the pics that are on there, so hopefully on the off-chance this ever happens again we won't lose anything permanently. Although I'm not entirely sure I tracked down and uploaded the right pictures (namely, the red deer, erne, golden eagle, and Tearlach), but I think it's close enough. If I uploaded the wrong picture, feel free to upload a new version.
Maybe not surprisingly, the Tytalus symbol is the one I had the hardest time tracking down .
I just added a few templates and defined some properties on the wiki. These allow calculations to be made directly there, such as the casting score on Typhon's character sheet. You can take a look at it if you want to see how to made such calculations, if you're not familiar with those on a Semantic wiki.
I've also added a link to Typhon's stats on the main page. From there, you can also access his mundanes' stats as well.
If people are interested, I could try to add the various templates needed to integrate the basic Infobox templates as well. Just let me know if there's anythong else that you'd like to do on the wiki, I've had quite a bit of practice with the Laurus Argenti wiki and it's amazing what you can do.
I tried making a Magus Information infobox a while back, but I couldn't figure out how to make it work, or how to insert it.
And I did make some Magus/Companion/Muggle character sheet templates, too, but as near as I've been able to figure out, you just cut-and-paste the page to where you want to put it and fill in the blanks.
Well, infoboxes are useful to take care of more advanced formatting in a normalized way. They can also handle optional parameters, to display only the relevant parts of the page based on the info provided.
I've also noticed that they're an easy way to display images that come from other web sites (i.e. without having to upload them on the wiki).
But they're basically just templates. You can make forms linked to templates that allow you to create and edit pages using the forms, but that's another area that I haven't explored fully.
I'm not an expert on template/inforboxes design and use, so if no one plans on using them it may not be worth the effort to design something specialized. I do most of my formatting directly, as you can see from Typhon's page on the wiki. Making a template would only be worth it if other people liked the design and wanted to use the same one without having to worry about screwing it up.
