Tales of Asgard (1230)

The big hammer crackling with electricity is a dead giveaway for Thor, and while there's no defining characteristics for the other guy, you would expect that Heimdall should be around Bifrost, somewhere.

The two arguers look at Freyr and there is an exchange in an unintelligible language. Skirnir pulls a flask out of one pocket and four cups out of another. The four of them all sit down on Bifrost.

Skirnir pours from the flask into the cups; the amount of fluid that goes into the cups far exceeds what should have fit into that flask. "Ett, tva, TRE!" he announces, and each of the four down their cups. Skirnir refills the cups.

Freyr turns to Carmen. "This may take a while..." he apologizes. "I'd invite you to join us, but I would not want you to come to any harm."

Well, since "Puissant Carouse" is not one of my preferred choices, Carmen does not feel like participating in a drinking contest anyways. She has Ludwig herd the sheep along the way and walks towards the golden realm of Asgard...

Ludwig pops back into a human. "Might want to consider, uhh, well, cheating," he grunts, once out of earshot of the four gods. "Dinnit you hear 'em? The hairy one is the bridge's guardian. If he loses that contest, the big blond one's gonna destroy that bridge and then we'll be stuck here."

Wait, what?
Carmen marches back over to the four men, and yells at Thor.
What's this about you wanting to destroy the bridge? Are ye daft man?!? And the four of you men are going to sit here and drink and leave a woman to walk alone unescorted but for her sheep and her goblin?

"I ain't your goblin, wench." Ludwig picks up a pixie and launches it at Carmen's face, at high speed. It stings! The pixie squeals and peels herself off, looking quite affronted, before resuming her place on the goblin's shoulder to braid his hair.

The four of them confer amongst themselves for a moment, and finally Skirnir rises with a sigh. The other three go back to their drinking.

"Very well, miss. Where would you have me escort you?" the blue-haired vassal asks resignedly.

I thank thee. But I would like to have a talk with this one (pokes Thor in the arm and glares at him impatiently).

"Touch me again and you'll lose that hand," Thor replies gravely, before downing his drink.

Ho-ho! Surly you jest! Everyone knows that the noble Thor would never harm a lady.
(playfully pokes Thor again, then smiles innocently and charmingly)
Pre +2, Charm 3, die roll 1d10=8, equals 13, willing to spend Confidence...

When Carmen pokes Thor again, his face turns into a mask of unabated rage. He reaches out and grabs for her hand. To avoid it, you'll be defending against an attack of 19. I strongly recommend spending however many Confidence points are necessary to win this Defense roll.

Ludwig had tried to use his Lightning Reflexes to shove Carmen out of the way, but unfortunately he botched. Not only did he fail to save Carmen from Thor's retribution, he slipped off Bifrost in the attempt, and fell into the swirling vortex of the space-between-worlds.

What about the Charm roll? With Confidence it could be as high as 19.

He thinks you're very charming without your needing to spend Confidence. It's not going to stop him from crushing your hand. A god drew a line and a mortal crossed it. (And there's a lot going on that Carmen's not aware of.)

That is very unlike the Thor I know.
But anyways, I suppose we need an Initiative roll. Thor first. Carmen's gonna Fast Cast something and maybe save Ludwig at the same time.

His initiative is 14.

At this point I need to warn you that attacking Thor is a Very Bad Idea. Just in case.

BTW, this is the mythological Thor, not Marvel Thor.

You said he was blonde and looks like Vulcanus. The mythical Thor is a redhead.
And it still is quite unlike the noble Thor. But anyway, what is his Initiative?
Oh, I see it. Hold on...

I didn't say he was blond, I just said he had an uncanny resemblance to Vulcanus  But yes, his hair is red and sparks fly out of his beard.

She shall Fast Cast "Wizard's Leap"
Quik +1, Finesse 3, die roll 1d10=9, plus one point of Confidence equals 16
Sta +0, Rego 9, Corpus 7, Mastery 2, Loud/Exaggerated +2, +10 aura, -10 Fast Cast, Boundary level?, die roll 1d10=2 equals 22.

Carmen moves well out of the way, nullifying the impulse for Ludwig's action.

Ludwig said he was blond

I blame Chris Hemsworth being my mental picture

I don't think that fast-casting can supercede Ludwig's Lightning Reflexes. For that matter, I'm not sure it can supercede Thor's.

I just re-read the text of LR, and I had misremembered it. It adds +9 to Thor's initiative check, not +3 as I'd thought. (3 is the Qik check target to respond reflexively, not the init bonus if your response is an attack.) So his init is 20, not 14. Even with 2 confidence points on the roll that's only a 19, so Carmen can't fast cast before he grabs her.

So I do need a defense roll.

Oooh wait, I got this. Ludwig can see in complete darkness. So he's red-green colorblind
