The Theban Tribunal of 1200

Ionas goes with Deborah and returns the token to the leper.

order of Hermes lore:
Stouritus is a humble Verditious, with an apprentice to be gauntleted next tribunal who is expected to stay at Ignasia.
Euxodia was gauntleted in 1186 and specializes in enchanted mosaics.
Gemma and Bobila are conjoined twins and metal smiths with a joint double lab and sanctum
Daedalus is a mason with a weaver apprentice whom most expect to remain at Ignasia.
There are 6 sanctums and 6 labs at Ignasia.

Ioannes only got token from Leukothea so there is no choice here ^^. I suspect the Verditus are not looking for a apprentice.

Xene still speaking to the Christian grog, "The primary reason I sought you good Christians out is that after the Tribunal I plan to go on Pilgrimage to Antioch and Jerusalem and was hoping someone amongst you might also be interested in that journey. Perhaps you might speak to others on my behalf to see if any would be interested."

Constantine will approach Stouritius a couple of hours after he arrives.

"Greetings, Magus Stouritius. I am a gauntleting apprentice; Constantine, and I am in search of a subterranean covenant."

(Sounds like they are full up, but Constantine will still go after a backup option)

Stouritis greets Constantine "Greetings... apprentice?" he seems unclear on Constantine's status.
The grog considers "I'd like to go, but I don't think I ca get the time away from my duties. I can ask around for you though."

"I am facing my gauntlet, which is to find a place in a covenant. I enjoy being underground, so I thought I would ask about Ignasia. I apologize for approaching you out of nowhere."

" I assume your gauntlet has more restrictions than simply finding a covenant, so you need not apologize for your approach. However there is much more to Ingasia than living underground. We are a verditious covenant, dedicated to the Verditiuous mystery cult. Literally the stated purpose of the covenant is to continue the traditions of our house. How would including you in the covenant further that purpose?"

"I am of House Jerbiton, and trained in mediation and in dealing with mundanes. I can say how I could be helpful, though it might not be traditional. I might act as intermediary between feuding members of your house, or deal with mundane issue that might otherwise pull you away from time better spent in the laboratory."

He sighs "If only it were that simple. My house has some very long standing traditions about how to resolve conflicts. Not very productive methods, to be sure, but we could easily be accused of opposing our house traditions if you were to join in such a capacity."

Constantine nods. "Well, I'm not bad at teaching and writing, but that's probably not very helpful. Is there anything an non-Verditious can contribute to Verditious traditions?"

Stouritis shrugs " nothing I can think of, at least not enough to be worth a seat at the covenant."

Constantine bows his head slightly. "Well, thank you for hearing me." He will move off. He will give the Favionius more time, since he thinks Castos is going to speak on his behalf, but if they haven't approached him by dinnertime he will approach them after.

(Tribunal proper is the following day, right?)

This is in fact the first day of the tribunal, and most of the official proceedings of the day are taken up with reading of decrees, decrees of citizenship, defamation and contrition offered before the citizens of the tribunal, at the end of which the presentation of apprentices takes place and the new apprentices are paired with their parens, followed by a reading of mages who are considered for ostracism, and votes on these.
Around lunchtime ( during the decrees of defamation) Constantine is approached by Memnos who sits with you. "I understand you re interested in joining our floating covenant. I understand the nature of your gauntlet, and you background and abilities certainly seem to align with our needs. I have one concern however. I understand that you have an interest in earth magics, which is one thing we do not get a lot of opportunity to explore. How do you see that working?"
After a day of wandering and cleaning plinth's Lucian reprimands Apollon and requires him t stay close at hand during the actual tribunal proceedings, during which he seems to be negotiating haphazardly with regards to his votes on the fate of other magi who have questions of citizenship or shards before the council, and doesn't even seem consistent in what he is pursuing.

Constantine shakes his head. "I mentioned to a couple of people that I was interested in an underground laboratory, but it was more to do with aesthetics, and a recent experiment I did, than with earth magics. I haven't really figured out what my specialty is yet, but it's not Terram. I do like the idea of an underground laboratory, but I also like the idea of travelling." He smiles, and shrugs. "To be honest, I haven't figured out what I want to do, but being on a ship won't create any problems for me."

"The thing is that you won't just be on a ship, you will be in charge of a ship. Don't worry about the technical details, we will hire a captain for the actual work, but is decisions need to be made it will be one of the main ships of the fleet, and it will fall to you to make decisions. First I need to know that you are ready for that responsibility, and second I need to know that if you decide to move to another covenant later that we will have an opportunity to replace you before you depart. I'm already concerned about Castos health, I don't need to be worried about you disappearing on us at the same time"

Constantine nods. "I feel ready for such responsibility, but I'm not sure what will convince you. For what it's worth, I was in training to run my first parens' trading business before she was murdered. As far as leaving, I don't plan on covenant-hopping, I'm willing to agree in writing that if I do leave I'll wait until tribunal for you to find a replacement for me. I may take occasional trips on my own, I hope that's not a problem, but I will keep my home with you, and I won't take the ship with me on such voyages."

He extends his hand "A verbal agreement will do just fine. Shall we go inform your parens that you have succeeded at your gauntlet? Do you need a season to learn parma, and if so where shall we pick you up in a season? I say we, but honestly I stay at the shipyard most of the time, my filius commands the fleet in day to day terms."
The second day of the tribunal is filled by the law council debating ins and outs of minutiae of the current version of the code, and there is far more trading of favors involved in the background than there is listening to debates, though even there most people only pay attention to one or two of the dozen topics being brought forth. A notable exception to this is Lucian, who spends the day politicking as if it were a recreational event being played for simple love of the game. It takes Apollon most of the day being dragged around from deal to deal to finally realize Lucien's primary goal seems to be generating drama and conflict.
On the third day the people's court is opened, and the forum is finally packed with people ready to vote. The announcement is made that the first trial will be handled on both sides by apprentices who are facing their gauntlet in lieu of the usual archons, that the case had begun as a decree of defamation but was determined to have issues of the code involved. A vote to convict will award the accused a minimum penalty of a shard, but a vote to acquit will similarly award the original complaining party a shard, though that will be the whole of their penalty. With that the forum is ceded to Xene, who must make opening arguments and call witnesses.
make your presentation and then make an attack roll as defined in societies p.90. The expected attack form is artes liberales (rhetoric) but any may apply. You argument may be bolstered with evidence as per p.92

Ioannes will stay from the second day on at the side of his new parens and try to follow the tribunal with curiosity.

Constantine takes his hand and shakes it. "Thank you very much! Yes, let's go to see him. I do need a season, I believe he will teach me at Nicaea; if you need me to take ship somewhere else and meet you I can."
