Trying to find a monster

I've read about a swamp monster that drowns its victims and paralyses them. It is somewhere either in a sub rosa or a published book, but have just spent an hour looking through tehm and I can;t find it!

I am running a game at 12 today, and if anyone could tell me where to look I would be very grateful!
