What is a Jellyfish?

Would a jellyfish be an animal, or would it come under aquam?

Simple enough question. Jellies might be of curiosity to hermetic magi since they are a source of Ignem (light) naturally in certain cases

Hi,

Whereas I don't know for sure, I suspect they would be counted amongst the half-animals half-plants like barnacles, mussels, and oysters. Or you could treat them as worms of the sea (i.e. vermin). Plants are living but insensate, animals are living and sensitive. If it can perceive its environment and react accordingly, then the Form of Animal is a safe bet.

Hi,

A little more research shows that Pliny the Elder called them 'pulmo marinus' (lit. sea lungs) and explicitly referred to them as animals. Both he and Aristotle wrote about their bioluminescence.
