12+3(5) in Guernicus Template ?

Hello,

I'm an Ars Magica newbie.

I just bought the main book and when I look the Guernicus Template, I see that his Intellego values "12+3 (5)".

What does the "(5)" means ?

It means that the character has put 5 XP towards increasing his Intellego 12 to Intellego 13.

Edit: This explained in the 'Format' section on page 20.

Not really. You've indicated that you're new to the system, and the notation isn't exactly obvious, especially when one hasn't memorised the virtuelist yet :slight_smile:
