1221.4 Hazy Shade of Winter

OOC : For such a basic effect, I'm sorry that I didn't precise if he'd get a tingling in his hands, would hear a eerie whisper, or something a bit more poetical or narrative - for once.
I guess that you had a bad day? I kinda did too. Let's not make that into bigger deal than it is. :unamused:

Something I did not tried before : Fieltarn takes the creo vis, and puts it in the palm of the other hand of the statue, the one previously empty.

anything

When I responded I was away from my books, both times. So I winged it. Intellego can make my head hurt sometimes, not having guidelines laid out before me didn't make it any easier. Nevertheless, you didn't include a guideline or all the parts of the spell. Yes, Sight of the Active Magics does have complexity for determining TeFo.

Base 5: Detect any Active Magic
R:Per
Duration:?
Target:Touch (and honestly, I missed this)

So, yes, the statue is magical. No, Fieltarn didn't taste it, and since you didn't state duration, it was a momentary flash sensation when he touched it. Moving the vis to the other hand doesn't have any noticeable effect.

Declaring this in need of a rescue mission. Said mission can happen anytime and could be completed prior to Spring meeting.

I don't know what happened.
BUT Isen could stumble on this while traveling, if it can help you.

It's unlikely. Fieltarn is trapped in a regio with a level 10 Aura. And he hasn't been seen for several days or a couple of weeks, it depends on how everyone else wants to handle it. You could drop by, certainly...

Laetitia already tried to convince folks to let her go look for him

What else is an Intellego specialist good for? (...Nothing.)

And she happens to be there at the right time. I was delaying it based on the player, I'm now allowing this to proceed as the troupe desires...

Several days, maybe a little more than a week pass, from the time that Fieltarn took the men to the temples of Janus, entered the ruins, and disappeared. Wilhelm, who still feels almost trapped at the covenant since his house was destroyed in the autumn floods, has kept an eye out for the magus who is a wolf, with no luck.

Finally, he feels that he has no choice but to tell the other wizards about what has happened, and hope that they do not blame him for what has happened.

He goes to (I'm assuming) Reynault and informs him that he has some information that he must share with the magi, as soon as possible regarding the one who has not been seen lately.

"Excuse me," Glaukopis addresses Wilhelm, "Wilhelm, is it? Sprechen sie Deutsch?" The owl continues in the grog's native tongue (whatever that might be). "I am told you can identify the entrance to the regio into which the princeps has gone missing? My associate is skilled with investigation techniques, and should like to locate him, to provide whatever aid he may require."

[color=green]"Lieber Gott!" Wilhelm says, almost under his breath, as he realizes that the owl is talking to him, with no other person in sight.

[color=green]"I do not know about any 'regio,'" he says in German, [color=green]"but I can show the magi where I last saw Fieltarn and what I saw happen that night."

"My apologies for startling you, friend. But really, there is no need to take the Lord's name in vain. Would you care to accompany us through a place of magic and possible danger? It is understandable if you do not."

Meanwhile Laetitia will track down Alexei and ask him if he would accompany her, in the event that there is any trouble.

Outside of Alexei's door is the young man Helmut, reading from a Latin book at a rather shoddily crafted lectern. His pronunciation is is quite good, just a little hint of a regional accent in it as he repeats his conjugation exercises. At the approach of Laetitia he stands upright and smiles, running a hand through his hair and straightening his tunic. "Ah...Maga Laetitia, what a pleasure." he says in Latin. "Is there something I can do for you...please?" he asks with just a bit too much boyish eagerness in his voice.

[color=green]"I'm sorry, Herr Eule...but I have never seen a talking owl before."

He mulls over the offer. Finally, he says, [color=green]"I will take to where I last saw Magus Fieltarn, and tell you everything I know. If you can get to...wherever he went, then I will wait...seven days for your return before coming back for more help."

Laetitia smiles and trails a finger across the curve of Helmut's jaw. "I will be going somewhere that may be dangerous, and hoped to find some strong, bold men to guard me... Do you think that you and your master could come protect me? I would be ever so grateful."

"That is quite fair. I thank you. Can you be ready to leave in an hour's time?"

Wilhelm nods. [color=green]"Yes. I will be waiting outside the main gate."

Helmut's eyes light up at the prospect and he nearly melts at her touch.

"J-just a moment! I'll get him!" he stammers and backs away, nearly tripping over the bookstand he was reading from. He tries to remain calm and collected before turning and rushing to the door and begins to pound on it.

"By Jesu lad what's wrong?!" Alexei says as he opens the door, his staff seems to be on some kind of lab table in the background and has an arcane glow around it.

"M'lord, uh the Maga Laetitia has asked you...us to accompany her for something dangerous." he says with wide eyes and a wider smile. Alexei's expression changes as he looks over Helmut to see Laetitia. With a broad smile he steps out of the doorway and kisses her on either cheek.

"Ah, m'Lady Laetitia, a quest is it? You have need of the renowned Alexei von Kroitsau?"

"I would learn of Fieltarn's fate, and aid him if possible; given the potential danger, I would prefer a strong arm or three, by my side."

Alexei looks perplexed a moment. "Fieltarn?" he asks, sounding like he doesn't know the name. Helmut tugs his should and whispers in his ear. "Oh! Fieltarn Ex Miscellenea. Barely saw him, I thought he left us. He's gone missing? Hmmm...well, I suppose it is proper that a search be made." he looks back into his lab at the glowing staff.

"Hmmm...do you need me then or would you like me to get a few grogs to take with you? Brione is a good man for a missing magus, he has a nose for finding spells, it can be quite useful, plus he's a loyal shield grog."

((Basically do you want Alexei and some grogs or just some grogs? I'd need to check out what Alexei was working on in Winter and see if he had the spell finished or not))

"I have a shield at my disposal, but I was more concerned about the possibility of magical opposition," Laetitia explains. "I have 'a nose for spells' myself, but not much in the way of options for protecting myself against them. We are venturing into a situation which has incapacitated one magus; we should plan accordingly. That's why I came straight to you." She flutters her eyelids in a mute, but blatant, I'm-so-helpless-please-protect-me appeal.

Alexei's face becomes more serious as the situation is described. "I see, so you feel that Fieltarn is not merely delayed but in danger? Very well, if you require assistance I will go with you as your Hoplite." he stresses the word, obviously indicating he wants a more or less official standing, if only on a temporary basis, of the title.

"Allow me to gather my effects and we shall leave soon. Since you have your own shield grogs I shall assemble mine. I would like to talk with you of the grogs and their standing orders. Obviously your shield shall stand by you always, but should situation and tactics demand it, I'd like any of your other grogs to defer to me or my sergeant, is this agreeable? It makes for a more fluid approach should danger arise." he gestures to the door of his sanctum and clears his throat.

"I offer thee, Maga Latitia ex Guernicus, entrance to my sanctum if thou wish it, and forego the protection that it allows me for this one visit, Helmut has witnessed my saying this and either he or his deceased spirit can attest that I allowed you entrance of my free will should you desire. Should any offence be offered to thee while therein I agree to a full investigation of my actions and will cooperate with such questions as posed under a Frosty Breath of the Spoken Lie spell, or other such enchantment. Should you wish this in writing and to be witnessed I shall fetch a notary immediately. This I swear upon the Order of Hermes and the Oath I took upon entering it via House Flambeau." he bows again. "Maga Laetitia are there any other assurances you require or would you rather wait outside my sanctum as I gather my belongings?"

(Alexei was working on a spell around this time [The Titan's Gentle Slap], it's set to be finished in Winter of 1221, would it be finished now? I'd LOVE to have the spell available and test it out on the expedition))
