1222.OOC

Sorry I missed this.
I think Silviatos' lab is unclaimed. It's a +1 sized lab with Superior Equipment.
For 1221, I thought, but can't find it, that we discussed part of the year would be 10 xp/season, like spring and summer and fall and winter could be setting up shop at Mons Electi, doing whatever you please. Since you, as a player, joined while I had the Tribunal threads going (I don't recall Isen being there, but there's a lot that's gone on, and I'm not doing an intensive search). As far as being given Vis, that's not really my question to answer, but I believe vis from 1221 has already been distributed so the simple answer, without rejiggering calculations is that no, his request isn't granted.

Ulrich has been squatting in Silviatos's lab/sanctum since he left (as no one has put him anywhere else yet), and is still there until Tria reclaims him after Apollodorus's death. After that...who knows?

Remind me when Isen showed up and joined the covenant again? I don't see him listed in the Vis Inventory charts, so he didn't have any set aside for the 1221 distribution that happened at spring meeting of 1222.

Well, we will temper that squatting in the lab depending on whether Isen takes the lab over. After that, I can see Ulrich spending time in the library, and having a room assigned to him. Your seasonal activity for him hasn't included any unsupervised lab work, has it?

Let's see...Nope. No unsupervised lab work. And, actually, no learning of spells, either. Boy, Tria's going to have a field day with that.

The learning of spells, IMO is not a big deal. He's less than halfway through his apprenticeship. I would think that spell's being taught or learned independently doesn't happen until the second half of the apprenticeship. Exceptional students might get them earlier, and it is possible that Ulrich could learn some spells in the ReHe TeFo combination sooner than later given his natural talents.

Jacques was also trying to take over a lab or build a new one. Not sure who has senority in this case.

Jacques does. He can take Fieltarns or Jormungands. Note I'm retconning Jo's to be a size +1 lab, not as he designed it. It has no effect on Fiona's LR, though.

Put him in Jorg's. I'll have to check his year activities since he was working on the assumption that he had to build it from -3

I'm not sure how you think having Tria ship Ulrich off to Iberia is going to have anyone at Mons Electi go hunting him down. As you said, he's hers to do with as she pleases, and if it's thought that he's better off in Iberia, I don't see how anyone would go trying to bring him back. If he's being cared for Laetitia has no motivation for seeing him dragged back into danger.

Be patient?

Right now, IC, I'm not sure that anything has been spoken about taking Ulrich as an apprentice. It's all been OOC. I'm fine with that, but some things have to happen in character in order for it to make sense (to me) and to complete the story in a semi-believable fashion. I have a path to get there, but you should have a path to get there, too, as Laetitia. I am not going to impose my path on you at the outset, your path might be better. If I don't get a sense that you want it, I'll swing the story cudgel and make it happen.

One big obstacle for Laetitia is she is busy in Autumn, like super mega busy. Giving birth to twins, working with Korvin in the lab on a LR. Thematically, I can't see a new mother spending gobs of time trying to train an apprentice in that first year, either. Yes, she'll have a nurse/nanny and all that, but she is still a mother, and those two new additions will consume gobs of time. I'm not going to penalize the player/character and prevent Laetitia from doing certain tasks in the lab, but it doesn't make sense that she'd take on an apprentice, especially one who has been masterless for a few years. Ulrich, needs to be broken in a bit. He has very little identity beyond getting into a girl's, or rather any girl's, pants. I can't see a new mother giving him much if any time. That's how I see it. That's how Tria will see it. That and that pittance of a 20th level Aegis is another major factor that needs to get fixed. Until then, she's keeping him safe as best she can. I presume, once Laetitia and Fiona arrive back they can have the talk about Ulrich. Or they can talk about it while in the Land of Giants and act upon their return. What I'm doing now, is setting up his asterisked Virtue of Flawless Magic. Ra'am has that, too, you know.

((btw - my copy of Apprentices has shipped, and I should be getting it tomorrow.))

What's with the (()) in an OOC thread?!?
Mine too, by the way.

I'm going to update Renaud to a normal companion. I'm thinking of sending him to Paris to recruit a scholar to teach greek to us. Unless someone has a better idea...

I hate to leave you tasked with all the Mercere business, but no one seems willing to step up to the plate. If I were a player, in this saga, I'd be all over Renaud like white on rice. Although, this might be a nice contrast for you as a player experiencing the dichotomy of the House. Magical Merceres, while politically astute in many cases, find themselves reluctant or unwilling to get involved in the politics of their House out of respect for what the Redcaps and the sheer number of them as compared to the Magical Merceres. The exception that proves the rule is what's going on down in Iberia.

A form letter? Really? You know I won't let you get away with that, right? Define newly gauntleted. I'll define a number.

Bad habit.

I thought Arya was working on one, but I might be mistaken.

I know. I was worried about that, I don't know how many Flambeau even qualify for that, at least it's just one Tribunal area. Newly gauntled would be since the Rhine's Tribunal before last. That makes up to 14-15 years right?

Jessica Fox speaks Greek and has a little teaching. Can't decide whether to make her a magic fox who can become human, or a human who can take the shape of a fox. I kinda like the idea of the animal being the native form, and being rather sensitive about people who think she's less civilized because of it.

Her name won't really be Jessica Fox though.

More or less. Putting this a different way, there is sufficient time to make inquiries into who they are and their lineage.
