((Yes a bracer or even a belt, something that shouldn't hurt the wearer, it needs a strong anchor point.))
"So...my sodale, moving the water around you won't move you without being resisted...we face the same problem. But moving an item with a firm connection would. You would likely steer it with a combination of mundane motions and intent. It could essentially swim for you. The item itself could use some refinement to be sure, perhaps the first version could be improved upon later. How does that sound? And it would be cost effective I believe!"
((Doh, no books with me. It would be a base of 2 I think for moving dirt, upgrade that a point or two for more valuable metal, it's range is Personal because you're affecting the bracelet, Duration would be Concentration, and Target Individual...It's likely less than 10 before adding in other options, like the amount of uses per day, right?))
ReTe
Moves the bracer in an unnatural fashion, from Unseen Porter stats.
Base 3 +0 Range, +1 Concentration, +0 Target
So level 4 for now, and can add up to 50 uses per day and still keep it at 10. That'd then be 1 pawn of vis plus 2 more for parts and labour. I save a bit by making it Personal range. Don't even have to add subtle magical controls, muscle movement should be enough to steer it. If we add a level I figure we can give it greater speed and/or maneuverability. Before Aodhan says this, I just want to get approval. Even with changes it should be at level 10, just depends on how many uses he gets))
Aodhan finally nods his head as he comes up with what should be a working theory. "I'll make a device that ye wear on your wrist, a van bracer. The magic will propel it, and ye just steer it like it's an animal, using your arm. It'd take some practice, but doing it this way will save vis and it won't have to penetrate it. It'll move at a walking pace I figure, but if ye want it to go faster or be able to pull more weight, it would require more power. Still I could do that as a 2nd magnitude lesser device, it would just depend on how much strength it has, and then how many times a day ye want. 3 Pawns total, 1 for the device, 2 for me."
((Going to make a 'Find Trap' roll here...1! Dammit! OK, guess I'll ask))
"We might be able to get moving on this right away, save us both some time and expense...if Talia is ammenable that is." Aodhan takes a deep breath and knocks on Talia's Sanctum door.
((You'll never find out, unless you ask. And I'm not sure of Aeliophanes would ask. He wants something else from Talia, so annoying her... Or something.))
A muffled Talia can be heard from within, "Yes? Who is it?"
"Very well." The sanctum marker is clearly visible on the door post. A chair can be heard sliding across a wooden floor. And then some shuffling sounds can be heard, and then some other sounds that sound like someone climbing over something. Talia opens the door, with an errant lock f hair falling over he face, which she tries to blow out of the way. She looks annoyed, but does her best to not sound annoyed, but fails. "Whaddaya want?" She grunts when the errant lock of hair won't get out of her face and quickly gathers it altogether. She's still naked from earlier, not having bothered re-establishing her clothing illusion.
Aodhan's blush returns and he looks down at his shoes as he twists his hat into a crumple of stitched fabric.
"Uh...well, I was speaking to...to..." he points back to Aeliophanes with his left hand. "To..him! And, well we got to talking about business, and he wants me to make a simple item for him. I could likely make it right quick, and he has the vis on hand. And well, I could really use the vis he's offering...for that Venditor that has some strange quirk about him, ye ken? Anyway, what I was wonderiong, do ye have a lab aboard the ship and if ye do, might I make use of it?"
He says all this while scrupulously looking at his feet as he seems to be doing the 'I gotta pee dance'.
Aeliophanes, for his part, is just standing back there non-chalantly. Not ogling or leering (nothing he hasn't seen before), or staring. Just looking at her. His eyes flick over her body, but he doesn't look like he's consumed by desire. He simply nods when Aodhan points his way, again when he mentions the vis, and continues to stand there. He does smile and almost chuckle when Aodhan acts so embarrassed.
"No, you can't do that in my lab." She smiles at them sweetly. A cursory inspection suggests that her lab lacks the equipment necessary to enchant items.
"Well I suppose space and materials are a luxury on a ship." and nods. He'd have no idea where to put a forge and an anvil in a ship board lab. He turns back and calls to Aeliophanes. "Nope, can't do it here. Maybe at Verdi, otherwise we'll use the previous engagement."
Her lab seems consumed by the desk. It takes up the entire room, basically, and is a feature and a focus both. ((It's kind of awesome for learning from lab texts, when combined with Adept Laboratory student...))
"And then even if it were possible, there would be the matter of interrupting my already ongoing lab work."
Aodhan returns to the warrior Flambeau and shrugs. "How do you wish to do this? I can likely obtain a lab at Verdi for the season, but there could be a wait and possibly a fee. If you're in a hurry that would be included in the price of making the item. Or we can wait til my return and we can send it to ye. What kind of vis are we dealing with? I might have to trade it while in Verdi if it's not Rego or Terram, just need a pawn of it."
((Aodhan would know he and his pater will be left if they intend to stay the season. Talia has committed to going to Tribunal, and Talia would have made that very clear. You're also committing your pater to staying for the season, and he might have something to say about that.))
