"Huh what eh?" Laetitia's head snaps up from the table, and she hastily rubs her bleary eyes. "Oh sorry. I was just... umm... closed my eyes for a second there..." She reaches up and gingerly touches her chin, and, with an expression of sheer mortification, she wipes a little trail of drool onto her sleeve. "If a magus objects to the odour of his own chamber pot, he can bloody well Perdo it himself. Please don't ask my opinion on how to wipe people's arses for them; I was having quite a nice dream, there were lemoncakes involved. Wake me again when the conversation turns to something remotely pertinent." She puts her head back down into the crook of her arm, completely oblivious to what Viscaria had actually asked her about, due to snoozing.
Viscaria accidentally snorts while sipping wine, and the proceeds to spurt it out her nose. After a few seconds, she regains her composure. "Actually, I was asking about security. Do we know what the Quaesitors will and will not do?"
"Oh? Proctor will strut around making faces as though someone hasn't disposed of their own excrement. He may occasionally pause in these duties so that he can ask me what Apollodorus had for breakfast, as a matter of Strict Tribunal Security. Valerian will loom in the background wearing his 'pay-no-attention-to-the-man-behind-the-curtain' face. Aristarchus will be mingling and playing 'good Quaesitor,' which doesn't actually fool anyone. Cavillor will embark on a deep introspective study of his own navel, in the best of circumstances; if are are not so lucky, he may opt for a course of action that involves opening his mouth."
"Okay..."Korvin looks at Laetitia wide eyed. "I'll look into getting some Tremere to provider security then."
I agree that mages can handle their own chamber pots but we will need to handle it for the others. I'm sure this is not a new issue so check with the Tribunal for any spells to handle this.

I see that the baths would be a permanent structure. Does anyone want to make a case for any other of the structures being permanent?
[color=blue]"Or Flambeau. Or even Tytalus, if we can make a competition out of it," Fiona says the last with a grin.
[color=blue]"We did get a book from the Tribunal on hosting the event. When I'm finished binding Paul, I'll study it and see if I can find something useful."
[color=blue]"The Coliseum would be too magnificent to let fade away after the Tribunal, I think. It would be an awesome souvenir. And, as Viscaria indicated, it would be a good place for us to practice precision with our spell-casting." (Yes, it was Amul ooc, but still not a bad idea. And if we can do it with Rego instead of Creo with Vis, it would be easier to make last).
Would it? Requisites (as I understand it) don't add magnitudes if they're integral to how the spell works. E.g., Shape of the Woodland Prowler is a MuCo(An), but there's no increase to the cost for the Animal requisite, because it has to have the requisite to work. If we're talking about a chamber pot, I'm not sure there would be an Animal component. Aquam, maybe, but I'd be inclined to call pee Corpus (the same way blood would be) because it's part of the body, separated from the body.
I would rather have competent security rather than a competition.
If you are thinking of using Rego then we would need to either import a lot of stone or have it mostly sunk into the ground. Outside the regio this could cause a problem with the mundanes. I'm not squashing the idea, just pointing out some problems if we went in that direction.
One of the things about the magic side of the regio is that there is a lot of mountianous terrain. In fact, the terrain looks absolutely nothing like the mundane side of Bibracte. It's Alpine, but the peaks aren't as tall, and it's not nearly as cold.
In other words, feel free to draw conclusions about rocks, quarries, etc. A botch on finding a quarry might make it difficult to transport the rocks, or access the quarry or create some certain hazard that must be overcome... Not that you couldn't find a suitable quarry.
That, and I thought Amul had said something about using Rego or maybe even Perdo to "carve" the Coliseum out of the ground, recessing it. So, like, the entrance would be at the top of the Coliseum. And the bigwigs with Ringside Seating would be able to be seen by everyone and everything as they make their way to their seats.
((Going by the book Magi of Hermes it was a base 4 effect, then the Aquam requisite added a magnitude. By that logic I figured adding Animal and Herbam (essentially 2 more Targets) might add to its level.))
Alexei is having a decent laugh at the way the conversaion changes and raises his hand. "I shall bring it up no more, as long as it's being taken care of. Surely there's a lab text for it that will make it a moot point. I just wish to say if it's not taken care of properly the main thing those that attend the Tribunal shall remember is the mess and smell."
Yep. Burrowfingers is a PeTe spell. It looks like I may have set up the spell parameters wrong, though. It claims to be able to do about 700 paces of stone or earth, which is clearly wrong. Baroque Peasant Hut is ReTe, but only affects earth, not stone. I may have to invent a new version to handle the stone. On the other hand, Viscaria is a Terram Badass now,
~cracks knuckles~ Gonna get some hands-on Finesse training, I am.
Just make sure that the chambers around the Coliseum are able to handle horses. And make sure there is a ramp to move hoses and others from the surface to the floor. The underground structures may be as large as the Coliseum.
Agreed. We should save the vis for when we can't spare it. So if it is possible, a spell will do the trick nicely. And if we can avoid losing a season and just use spontaneous magic, why wouldn't we do so?
As per the security, leave it to Alexei, Laetitita and me, maybe?
Serf's parma (and I'd really like to know if I'm wrong), but isn't it 3 seasons?
1 to open, 2 to enchant?
She doesn't need the extra season to open because of her Alchemy. She opens the device as a 7-day distraction. It's possible that she needs to spend those seven days the season before, I don't remember.
Ooh, wait. She needs to accumulate points over the spell level each season, so my math may be incorrect here. She's not actually able to do it at all. With a lab total of 60, she's accumulating 0 points per season. She'd have to drop it Base 30, for teleporting seven leagues, experiment, and give it a 1-year expiry. Then it'd be 1 or 2 seasons, depending on the roll.
"A very good point. Perhaps we can find a good hillside to carve out, or otherwise take advantage of the terrain."
"Done easily enough. Now, let's see what we have so far..."
OOC: Dammit, for some reason, I can't find my most recent iteration of the list. I can find it in Advanced Search: Sat Jan 21, 2012 7:34 pm, but when I jump to it, it isn't there.

OOC: Especially with what JL just said about lots of stone being around, I definitely think Rego is the way to go.
"As I understand it Korvin, your chief objection to placing it inside the regio is that we haven't looked there to find a suitable place yet, is that correct? This surplus of stone we've just been discussing could be a boon or a curse, depending on its quality. If we do end up constructing somewhere in the mundane level, then site security during construction will definitely be a priority. Are you also saying you'd be worried about leaving the coloseum up after the tribunal, if it were outside our mystical borders?
"Also, I seem to recall discussing a series of lecture halls for the Bonisagus and other research minded to discuss and share individual revelations, but I don't see it on the list. Should I add it?
"To get back to the question, I do feel like if we're going to keep the Falconball field and Bath House, then we might consider keeping at least one villa as a convenient sleeping space.....in fact, it might be wise for us to consider now the possible future uses of the site. Oppidiae (sp?) had walls, after all, and it is always wise to have a defensible location to retreat to. If we're going to go to the trouble of building all of this anyway, we might consider designing it so that afterwards, we could use it as a seige-retreat, or something. Somewhere to retreat to, or excursion from."
Later, she'll add...
"It seems none of us have yet requested Lab Texts from each other. Are there resources to be pooled there?"
I did ask people to preface their words with something to tell me who they are. WhoTF is playing Jacques? I'm talking to Jacques in another thread right now and I have no idea who his player is. ~headdesk~
Anyway, I corrected it.
Show off. ~thppt~
It is sort of interesting to me how even my "specialist" characters tend to be much more generalist than other people's. This is possibly a massive flaw.
I Korvin is my main character but I made Jacques on a request from JL. I run him but anyone could take him. Even a new player. He is magically weak for a 55 year old mage.
Since the Covenant is "carved" into the side of a mountain, I'm guessing that the level areas are rare to non-existent.
