1228.etc: Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da

Tranquillina laughs delightedly when Fiona starts singing the dramatic tale. After a couple of verses, Tranquillina snaps her fingers with an idea: she holds her new looking glass and incants a Creo Imaginem spell, causing the mirror to emit the sounds of an accompanying lyre while its surface displays a series of still images depicting the events of which Fiona sings. The music is simple and tends to lag behind Fiona when she changes to a new chord, but overall the accompaniment helps more than it hinders. The images do include some details of Durenmar in addition to those that Fiona mentions, although on the whole the grandeur and perfection of the place is blown a bit out of proportion.

((Spell: Sta -3 + Cr 6 + Im 10 + aura 5 + stress die 6 = 24, halved is 12. Enough for a Base 2 (sight and sound), +1 Touch, +1 Conc, +2 changing image as she concentrates = level 10 spell. Finesse: Int 3 + Finesse 2 + stress die 3 = 8.))

After applauding the song, Tranquillina listens with great concern to Fiona describing her experience in Twilight. "Are you sure you are suffering no ill effects, friend? Do you ... have you touched any vis since this happened?" When Fiona points out her hair, she stretches up on her tiptoes to have a closer look: "Hmmm, it's subtle, but I definitely see what you mean ... I thought, maybe, you were doing it on purpose?"

Fiona thinks back over the past few days. [color=blue]"No, I don't think I have. Do you think my Twilight experience might have some lingering effect..perhaps I would have an odd reaction to Vis?"

Fiona sits down on the floor to make it easier for Tranquillina to examine her hair (although, even flat-butted, she's still six feet tall)

[color=blue]"I usually wear my hair loose, so it may be more subtle. But when I look in the mirror, it's definitely noticeable.'

She thinks for a minute. [color=blue]"I wonder what would happen if I braided my hair? Would my braid stick up like Paul's tail?"

Tranquillina grins at the thought of Fiona's snake-like braids, but is more sober when the subject of vis is in the air. "I think it's pretty rare, but ... you might want to check. Just a couple of pawns, to confirm that nothing untoward is going on."

((I'm trying to remember if Fiona knows about Tranquillina's little...malady yet. I want to say "no," but I wouldn't swear to it.))

[color=blue]"Hmm...that would be something that I should know about before it's too late. Do you have any vis around, or should we go borrow some from the covenant stores for a few minutes?"

((And I was thinking about Fiona's braid...and I suddenly had an image of her with two braids, sticking out and up like the Wendy's girl.))

((Pippi Longstockingon steroids  ))

((It's a good question. On the one hand, Tranquillina always dodges topics or situations concerning vis; she is edgy near creatures with Might and even near familiars; she tends to flinch when vis is mentioned or brought near; and her lab (known to those who have visited it) doesn't even have any apparatus suitable for handling vis. On the other hand, she always makes some excuse or deflection to try to hide her malady from people, out of shame; she doesn't talk about it with anybody, except in her correspondence with Thamik at her former covenant (and perhaps a little bit with her pater). What would Fiona (or anyone else) have pieced together over the last five years or so?))

Tranquillina turns away from Fiona, dusting unseen motes off her seat for several seconds as she responds: "I don't think I have any here ... we can just have Loys bring a couple of pawns to your sanctum later today. No need to interrupt our pleasant conversation."

((Random tabletop roll shows that Fiona has figured it out, but that since Tranquillina has never come out and said anything, she won't either. Being Secretive, herself, she understands the reluctance to share, especially for something that could be considered "embarrassing" for a Bonisagus. Sort of like a mechanic who's allergic to motor oil and grease.))

[color=blue]"He can come by whenever he wants. If I'm not in, he can leave the vis with Moire."

She smiles. [color=blue]"I trust he's doing you well?"

((When in 1228 is this taking place exactly? Like, what are the approximate dates of the Grand Tribunal, from which Fiona has just returned?))

((I'm thinking early Summer, a week or two in, maybe? So...last part of June?))
