1229.1 Where All Honor Lies

At Harco, Alexei is told by Servin, that Allaire gave a pass to cover travel for magi from Mons Electi to Val Negra.

A vein begins to throb alarmingly in Alexei's temple and he pauses a moment to collect himself. "Servin, thank you for that. Was that pass just for that brief time that Isen and myself and our grogs used it? But also, I need to speak with Allaire, it is very important, he may be...unknowingly involved in a transgression against myself and the Prima of Flambeau. I fear he and maybe even the good Redcaps of Harco have been used to deliver fraudulent messages and even forgeries of prominent magi. Can you help me find him or can he be brought back here?"

Donner begins to pace in a tight circle as he feels the tension and frustration building in Alexei.

Servin has no way of knowing where Alaire is or contacting him.

((I think you showed some mercy on me when you said no one at Harco would know where Alaire is. Where's the next house for the Redcaps?))

Cunfin and Dragons Rest ( in Flanders). Alaire is based out of Dragon's Rest.

((I'm back, I had internet access, but little opportunity to post for the last week. According to the history in this thread, Cunfin is not likely to be useful, and Alexei already stopped at the Dragon Inn, and then to Montvert. What might be the next best option would be to check on the various vassals of Montvert, which is supposedly where Alaire is going to now.

In all honesty I need something tangible before I throw up my hands and just start declaring Wizard's Wars whether I'm right or not...either that or let it slide, i'm not spending more than a season on this, but i just don't know where to go at this point. Any of the tools i've consided using to find Alaire are flagrantly against the Code and even enemies of Alaire and Rotgers wouldn't approve of them (basically using Donner to sniff him out from Harco or other places where he can likely pick up a scent).

So, when I get home i'll see if i can make a good enough Order of Hermes Lore roll to figure out which covenants are vassals to Montvert, and if I can't figure that out I'll ask the Redcaps at Harco, though that might tip my hand more than I want it to.))

Maybe that's the design of the story? Muhahahaha!

Well, really it's a story of some hard choices...

((It very well could be, politics and such can be simply petty little games, meant to annoy and distract and I'll have to come up with an appropriate response. But we'll hold that off until I've checked with the vassal Covenants. Would I need to make a roll to know any of them? If so, I'll get home and make the roll in a little bit.))

Order of Hermes roll (specialty in Normandy Tribunal)

Int 2 + Lore 2:
1d10+4 → [1,4] = (5)

Not sure if this is a stress die or not, I'll roll an exploder to save time:

1d10 → [10] = (10)
invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/4167061/

So total is 5 if Simple, 24 if Stress.
