1229.2 The Antiquities Road Show

"Someone is breaking us into factions. Going to Ariel may just make it worse." ((At this point, it's not clear to me how far Alexei's story will progress, so it is tough to me to say whether or not Insatella knows about Alaire's involvement in that episode, but these stories were designed to dovetail one another, that one just progressed more slowly than I anticipated.))"What about the Tremere? Your pater seems to be well regarded and taken care of and happy with them."

Breaking Mercere into fractions or the Order? I would guess you mean both. We can not help the Order until we get our own family in order. We are still a family, are we not?

Yes. He has made a deal with them involving Gifted children. I would balance it out with perhaps the Jerbiton. Andru has been bringing his House into a more organized, if not militarized state. Although the Jerbiton may not have the demon hunters yet but they would be experts with Imaginem which we will need to combat Jareth.

"Very well, Korvin. I'll take your suggestions under advisement.". Ra'am and Korvin depart for Phoenix. ((This part is more interesting, so I'll dally here.))

Once Korvin is through he checks on Abagail to make sure she is fine. Assuming she is fine, he will ask Ra'am to set up a meeting with Azura so they can get some information.

((For some reason I was thinking I said something about who Abigail was with at Phoenix, but I can't find it now. If you recall that, please consider this a retcon.))

Ra'am and Korvin arrive back at Phoenix, at the Mercere House. When they arrive they find that the normal activity of the House seems unusually frenetic. People jabbering in multiple languages, and many more people than just the Redcaps are here. One of them runs up to Ra'am and starts speaking in Castillian. His face whitens. About the same time a Redcap runs up to Korvin and says, "A group of men just came in, with weapon's drawn, made their way to Azura and Ra'am's daughter. I heard one of them say, 'Come with us, or she dies' to Azura while pointing at Abigail, in Latin. He pulled out a wand, said something quickly, probably the activating trigger, and the entire group disappeared."

Damm!! More of those mercenaries. Korvin paces the room for a minute in thought. I think we have two courses for us at this point. One is find Tria, who seems to be a ringleader. The other is to go to Rorschach where Jareth's sanctum is located. The mercenary we captured in the Mons Electi raid said they went there for training. And they were hired in the Rhine. Either path, I will need help.

Korvin looks back to Ra'am What are your thoughts?

Ra'am gathers himself, after receiving the news that his daughter and Azura have been kidnapped and he responds to Korvin after a long pause. "Tria isn't exactly a ringleader, as you suggest. Celestina was working primarily on my behalf with covenants in the Alps and the lower Rhine. We send messages back and forth rather often, and Celistina was recommended to me by Tria. What do you know of Jareth's amici, who he associates with? I don't know him, only know of him. I think finding out more about Jareth is necessary, is going to his sanctum wise, will that give us information? He is either barricaded himself in his sanctum with Azura and Abigail, or he isn't there, and probably has cleared out his sanctum."

I know nothing of his friends. And nothing of his location and nothing of where he might be going. I know he is the only apprentice of his parens Typhoeus, that survived to take the gauntlet. Korvin pauses in thought. We need information and it is at Rorschach. We can ignore his sanctum and ask the Redcaps and any of the Jerbiton that are there to get more information.

Ra'am says simply, "Very well, I'll follow your lead."

Korvin is silent for the time it takes them to go back to Harco. He then informs Insatella about what has happened at Phoenix. He will ask around the Redcaps at Harco to see if he can get some information about Jareth's friends and associates. Depending on what info we get will decide our next move.

Need to make some Leadership, Folk Ken, Charm or other kind of rolls to be able to get the information out of any Redcaps. And you don't want Ra'am doing it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Korvin will use Folk Ken on the Redcaps first 3 + Pre 0 + 1d10=8 = 10 ( 11 for females)
He can try to be charming to the others Charm 2 + com 2 + 1d10=3 = 7
He can further try to us Intrigue to get gossip on Jareth 3 + int 2 + 1d10=4 = 9

I will spend confidence if needed.

Well, here's what you can suss out...
The charm roll reveals a Redcap that doesn't know anything about what's going on, but when he sees Ra'am standing nearby, he's reminded that he'd heard a rumor that Tria was hanging around Rorschach, the village, not necessarily the Chapter House quite a bit.
The female Redcap who Korvin tries to read with Folk Ken lets it slip that she saw Jareth in the Roman Tribunal once, but she won't reveal the name of the covenant.
Gossip on Jareth is that he's been avoiding Harco, and has not undertaken Redcap duties in over 15 years.

((Of course! Demons and the Rome tribunal :stuck_out_tongue: ))

Korvin will travel to Rorschach, the village to search for more clues/information.

((That's purely coincidental! Honest!))
Ra'am and Korvin travel to Rorschach village, via the portal from Harco to Rorschach chapterhouse? Or overland from another portal? Ra'am offers the use of his flying carpet, which has been since modified to make the landings not as dangerous... The trouble with the flying carpet is that it is large, and unless it's actually being used, it's a hassle.

This has been a quandary with Korvin ( read jebrick) as i think of actions. If they go through the portal to the Rorschach chapter house they they would be wise to travel with 5+ fighting men just in case the mercs, who trained there, are still there.

Korvin will ask around to see if there are any Redcaps who have traveled to Rorschach in the past, in Harco at the present. He is thinking of making a disguise via CrIm on himself and Ra'am. Ra'am would have to change clothes into a traveling Redcap.

Make a roll to see if fortune smiles on Korvin. If you voice something to Ra'am he indicates he can cast three lightning bolts at a time.

1d10=4 not very lucky. I'll just have to pick a passing Redcap from the Rhine and perhaps an apprentice.

Korvin will talk to Ra'am about all of this. no use in holding it close to the chest with him.

((I didn't think Korvin would here. So getting 1 shield grog each, Ra'am and Korvin could effectively eliminate a well trained group of 4 in a round...))

We could say that Ra'am gets one before he leaves Phoenix. Or if Jolanda was not taken with Abagail, we have two already with Jolanda and Claude. If that is the case, we can just head through to Rorschach.
