I'm ready to post new adventures, but Aurthor, Anna, Taurus, Ouragan, & Pazzino have not filled in 1107, and Camilla and Evandrus have not filled in winter 1107...

I find myself wondering why Darkwing thought his were in the planner when his characters have nothing for 1107 - do we have a glitch?

I filled in Camilla for Winter, but was waiting for Evandrus; I'd imagine he would finish the spell he started on Spring 1106, but that's up to Quite Possibly a Cat.

I'm pretty sure that only takes two seasons. Creo(31)+Co(30)+Int(3)+MT(12)+Aura(5)+Assistance(14)>90. So just two seasons to finish.

Summer adventures took 22 days (Evandrus Faerie friend 11, Mercere house 11) so all laboratory activities are a wash for that season.

That's why I asked if Camilla could do something else. And assumed Winter of 1107 might be dedicated to finishing the spell.

Whoops, messed that up. Its now scheduled for 1108.

Seasonal effects are reduced per month lost- so anywhere from 10-30 days means you get 2/3 of the season accomplished.... a long ways from a wash.

I was referring directly to p. 103 from the main book, "Distractions from Lab Work": ..."if you miss more than twenty days, you cannot perform a laboratory activity at all..." Are you saying the rules from advancement/study totals will also be applied to lab work in this Saga?

Adventures for 1107:

  1. Fall, infamous: a criminal investigation has been launched by secular authorities challenging the legal validity of your ability to harvest the wood of the Laurel trees which serve as a source of Rego vis- the claim is that you only have the right to gather stone, not wood from the area. First challenge legal.
  2. Taurus Magical Animal Companion has disappeared in the spring, with signs of being abducted by a magical creature. Choice of how to proceed for first challenge
  3. Gabrielle: enemies- in the fall a peasant has filed a claim that Gabrielle has defiled his daughter and must be forced to marry her. first challenge legal
  4. quest for the becoming initiation script: winter, first challenge social

it means I keep looking under long term events for guidelines that are elsewhere... you are correct...

No problem, I myself had misinterpreted the Advancement rules and had missed several adventures thinking that if they were >10 by just a few days, study totals would be unduly penalized.

Wanted to add an adventure for the Fall for Andros, I had put it in the Google page, "Further adventure to uncover Hidden Resources". Will attempt to drag some of the same people to it as before.

Andros will certainly take part in #1, will request Pazzino's aid, Julien (as this directly involves Covenant resources), Paco, as usual and Roger the Archer (2nd Sight + Keen Vision, yeah!). Maybe Aurthor, with his Gentle Gift, might desire to participate. Any one else? I imagine Taurus is busy in the Fall with the Gathering of Twelve Years.
Adventures #2,3,4 seem very personal, so unless those involved directly request Andros's aid...

I intend to post a Mythic Companion Redcap today or tomorrow for inspection and approval, to introduce in 1107.

Pazzino will dedicate the fall of 1107 to adventuring. I suggest Andros takes the start of the Autumn, and halfway through Gabriele can start defending himself against vile accusations. (The first 2 adventures shouldn't take more than 45 days right?)

Forget the unpaid overtime and think of the xp....

Look, you have to think of all the exposure you'll get. :laughing: Hehe, anyway, sounds good, same team for 1, 3, 5? , the Fall of adventuring? To recap: Andros, Pazzino, Gabriele now, why not, Julien, Paco, Roger the Archer. Guess Andros will refine his lab some other time.

Through a series of letters, Praesidium Orae learns that investigators indirectly linked to ducal authority are contemplating with undue seriousness charges by a local merchant disputing the validity of harvesting wood of the laurel trees, on very technical and baffling grounds. Care must be taken so that this case goes away quickly, with the least amount of paperwork possible, as nobody else should learn the importance some measly laurel leaves have for the covenant. The head official, Taddeo Macri, is a greasy, humorless man, accompanied by a number of very minor and equally joyless clerks; they have a quartet of mercenary guards for muscle. The meeting is stultifyingly boring, even as such things go. Clearly these men are being paid by someone who does know of the importance of the laurel leaves, but they themselves are in it just for their benefactor's money. Folk Ken roll. They agree to visit the ruins 2 days hence to argue some more, it appears.
Pazzino immediately goes to the town to gather some more information and do research. He is an ace in land disputes, and quickly finds holes in their very technical argument Canon and Civil Law roll and formulates a counter argument. The others ask around and discover that one of the clerks in the investigators outfit is actually being sought by the authorities in another town, accused of embezzling the funds of a rich widow, and the mercenaries themselves got into a fight with some peasants with kin in the city guard. Words are spoken in the right ears, and the covenant finds Taddeo (the "toad", as Paco has christened him) and retinue very much reduced in strength and spirit when they go visit the ruins a number of days later. Pazzino rapidly hammers his arguments, one after the other, getting the official to admit that the laurel trees are within the area of the stony ruins, that fires have raged in the countryside sometimes uncontrollably, so that landscaping is not only desirable, but a duty the fortress at Locri takes seriously; and that the famous pasta at Locri would not be the same without bay leaves, and would he like some? Artes Liberales roll The adventure ends with a lovely feast at Praesidium Orae, in which many veiled threats are made at Taddeo's backer, inviting him to "speak with our ally, the Duke of Apulia, should he have any more questions". They accompany Taddeo and his minions back to town, to see them off, and they run head first into the next adventure.

Andros, Julien , Pazzino, Gabriele, Paco, and Roger walk into town, escorting the chastened Taddeo Macri. After seeing him off on a ship, they proceed to celebrate their defeat of the Man by drinking and carousing. To success! Sensing an opportunity and seeing a number of pretty faces in the growing crowd, Gabriele breaks out the lute and sings a number of tunes. The patrons are loving it, some of the songs they know already. But Pazzino and the others sense trouble. A number of men come, mutter amongst themselves, and then leave. Others ask questions about the "pretty boy", they say, to Roger, Paco, Julien, and Pazzino. The latter interrogates right back, and he can tell these people are looking for Gabriele with some sort of personal agenda, with anger in their hearts Folk Ken roll. Andros follows the men, invisibly Veil of Invisibility roll, and he can see a dozen gathered nearby, some obviously kin to one another, all in a state of anguish or outright anger. They are saying "That's him right there!" "The nerve of him!" "I think I saw him with some armed men, before" "He'd better make this right!" "Here comes Jacopo and his boys". The latter turn out to be city officials with the intention of arresting Gabriele! Andros hurries right back and whispers in Julien's astonished ears, "There's trouble brewing with Gabriele. Better warn the men." Julien has barely time to get the word to the others before the aforementioned Jacopo, with his two enforcers and a dozen angry peasants in tow, push and shove their way to interrupt Gabriele, who is enthusiastically singing the concluding stanza of a very bawdy song about farmer's daughters and their delights. Jacopo turns out out to have a very deep voice "Singer, you are accused of deflowering Martino Sondo's daughter, Serena, and getting her pregnant with child. Do you deny this charge?" Laughter and angry shouts erupt, and the raucous din of the crowd reaches new heights. With an innocent smile on his face, Gabriele says "I know many pretty girls named Serena, could you be more specific?" The mood turns uglier, and Julien groans, shielding his beer tankard protectively. Gabriele continues "But I will say this: there have been of late many faerie impostors, changelings, who impersonate great artists and personages such as myself for their own obscure ends. Are you sure this is not what happened?" This is met with shouts of derision and even more laughter, the singer has a set on him! But it stumps Jacopo if for but a moment, and Julien seizes it, with the most funereal, sincere and serious voice he can muster " Roger Borsa, Duke of Apulia put down a rebellion a few years back, a rebellion with supernatural origins. Many among you have witnessed the births of changelings rise. Is this poor girl perhaps bewitched?" Guile roll Many nod their head in agreement, and the city official is clearly reassessing the situation.
But Farmer Sondo's kin won't be denied, they shove and push and punch their way to lay hands on Gabriele. Who throws the first punch is unclear. But a grand melee ensued of which the peasantry is still talking about. Andros invisibly hovers over Julien and Pazzino, tripping, punching, and shoving with gusto Brawl roll. His spell Ironhide cast Ironhide roll protects him from a great many blows and tankards that miss their intended targets and he absorbs many more of them in defense of the diminutive lawyer and the rotund Autocrat, who rumor started was some kind of wizard. Gabriele gleefully fought from a top a table, swinging from the rafters, performing all the way; his training as well as the others helped him outlast the exhausted combatants Athletics roll. The group eludes their pursuers and slips into the night.
In the next few days, Julien speaks with his contacts, gathers information, and sure enough, he learns that it's Gabriele's noble nemesis who has engineered the charges. The poor girl is slow of wit but with a buxom body, and apparently was part of a plot to slander the singer. Of course, it is not clear if Gabriele actually did have relations with this Serena. Intrigue roll.
Pazzino uses his legal skills to get the charges dropped against Gabriele "pending the birth of the changeling child", as poor Serena is so flustered and confused under interrogation that she becomes the defense's best ally.Canon and Civil Law roll. She is sent off to a nunnery, with some bribery by the covenant involved, with the court convinced that she has consorted with faerie kind!
Gabriele takes advantage of the situation to spread unsavory rumors about his enemy, rumors very much rooted in truth, but with added spice, and tying this noble to faeries and the faerie rebellion itself. He knows exactly who to speak to Italian Nobility Lore (personalities) roll, and his foe becomes very busy trying to salvage his reputation.

*Whew, as this was a Gabriele adventure, I tried to fit him in every cycle.

Andros has planned the trip to Siderno for a while, and he manages to convince everybody that more adventuring is exactly what's needed. He dearly enjoys Pazzino's keen intellect and conversation, knows Gabriele could use his sage guidance to reform his ways, and simply adores Julien's discomfiture with his valiant (Julien says reckless) ways. Paco is his shadow, and Roger has acquitted himself well so far. So, on to Siderno!
The trip is not long, but not for the first time Julien wonders about needing a cart and horses. Moreover, Paco and Roger are laden with equipment. Andros promises there'll be more digging, oh joy. Probably not so glad they came this time. But the little town has provided some much needed experts, and it is so restful to not have the coven folk and the Magi always clamoring for his attention...
Their greeting is familiar, but laconic. Julien strains to put on his best smile forward Charm roll, and chats amiably until the group is housed in a common room. The elders have come to discuss more serious matters, how their relations are adapting to life in the fortress, etc. But they are subdued. Later on, at supper, Gabriele tries to lighten the mood with some song. The grogs groan, remembering how things ended last time. But Gabriele sings a new song, a lovely melody of hope and loss Music(lute) roll. The people of Siderno are moved, and more come to gather nearby. Gabriele soon starts an even more complex tune about trust and the benefits of confession and open dialogue, and he moves everybody to speak their secrets to the people nearby, even gets the ever crafty Julien to openly confess that he thinks Andros is a looney and he wishes he could do some more spectacular magic like Taurus, to which Andros simply smiles and says "Maybe some day, but I get by, you must agree." It becomes a somewhat boozy and weepy gathering, with only Gabriele, Pazzino with his protective relic, and Andros unaffected. Enchanting Music roll

Among the confessions heard, someone admits that the town is still visited by "strangers" from time to time, and they have hired men from the town in the past. They are well-armed, and they pay and intimidate with the same enthusiasm on a regular basis, and "they get up to no good and perform some dark rite in the hills yonder". Andros looks at his grogs and the Companions, and says "Let's talk." Julien sighs. They set up a watch in the hills near the ruins. After a few days of uncomfortable outdoor living, Julien is more than ready to return to Locri. But his ears are keen, on the third evening a group of men are coming up the hill! He scampers to hide in the ruins near Roger and Pazzino Awareness(Alertness) roll. The 5 men that appear on the trail are in a hurry, burdened with digging equipment, light armor, and many weapons. They do not spy the covenfolk, they are specifically focused on something, Andros suspects it's vis. The men unburden themselves, one of them barks a few orders in Italian, and they uncover a small chest lined with velvet. The leader wraps his hands in bandages, and as evening falls and the first ray of the moon appears, he lights a torch and enters a small grotto from which issues a spring of purest water. Moments later, he exits with two fistfuls of moss which he carefully lays inside the chest. The men start to gather their equipment when a light shines upon them, and Andros thunders: "This is Praesidium Orae land! How dare you come like a thief in the night and so brazenly take our property? Lay down your weapons and answer my questions!" The man carrying the chest grunts, and quickly sprints down the hill, hugging his burden tightly and carrying the torch to light his desperate flight. Andros is on him like a flash, but he is beset by men on every side.Greatsword roll, he cuts one down, trips another, and keeps in pursuit down hill. Roger puts arrows through two legs and Paco batters senseless the remaining man. Soon the smell of smoke wafts close to the waiting company, and crackling sounds dominate the night. Half the hilltop might be on fire! Andros returns suddenly, covered in soot, but without a scratch on him. "Well the fool thought to burn me, and he ended up as kindling for the fire he started, too bad. A terrible way to go. Now help me protect this place, there's shovels they thoughtfully have provided. This grotto must be protected until the tether can be identified." Cast Ward Against Heat and Flames roll Through improvised firebreaks, and Andros stepping up to enter the flames and redirect and extinguish them with low level Rego/Perdo sponts, the group manages to protect the pristine area, until early in the morning a sudden rainstorm douses the hillside and their exhausted bodies. They retreat back to Siderno to recover, interrogate the survivors, who know very little (up to silveroak).

On the road back, they are overtaken by an athletic young woman with a red kerchief at her throat, who gives them a bright smile and asks in halting Italian "Hallo, is this the road to Locri, do you know?""Andros takes a long look at her, and says in Latin "It is the way to Locri, and the Mercer House beyond, yes. I am Andros, Andros ex Flambeau of Praesidium Orae." In perfect latin she answers "Then our paths blend together. I am Danaë of Mercere. The Road goes ever on" :laughing: couldn't resist.

To recap: "The Fall of Adventuring" is 27 days of adventuring, each character (Julien/Roger the Archer/Paco/Andros/Gabriele/Pazzino) earns 17 xp, Andros/Gabriele/Pazzino earn 9 Confidence each also, Andros earns 3 Rewards (1 of which has to be spent to intro Mythic companion, right?), Pazzino earns 4 Rewards, Gabriele earns 3 Rewards. Infamous Hook and Contested Resources Hook get a notch each. We uncover more of those Hidden Resources!

I removed the +1 difficulty for winter, in part because it doesn't make sense for southern Italy.
Andros does not need to spend a reward to introduce his mythic companion- it is a special case incentive.

Story: Part of the Gathering of Twelve Years involves a contest among the more combative of heartbeasts, partly to help determine "pecking order" but also as inspiration and demonstration for the cubs and pups. After being nearly surprised by Lupus Griseo from the Provencal Tribunal, Taurus managed to throw the other magus over with his horns. Lupus snarled an insult at the larger mage, implying Harmonist tendencies for joining a covenant in such settled lands. Riled from the fight, and feeling angry, Taurus sent the other magus sprawling with the spell Crest of the Earth Wave. Lupus, as a member of of Clan Wilkis, shook off the attack, pleased to see Taurus ready to defend his clan and the house, and dubbed him "Taurus Earth Shaker".

On the way home, while crossing the mountains onto the Italian peninsula, Taurus noticed markings that indicated the passage of gryphons through the area. Preferring to avoid any contact, Taurus cast Digging the Den to provide shelter at night. On one evening, his delving uncovered a small cache of rounded stones containing Terram vis.

Let's go with Magic for the first challenge. How many challenges, and what's the level?
