Anulus Connectens: Bausas

I'd misremembered that.

Or leadership 1 with an appropriate specialty, like I wrote in my post.

Oh yeah. I missed that, good point. Because otherwise Leadership 1 would be a waste of time for a magus, for lab purposes. I could easily see a magus interested in fighting alongside grogs to have different specialities, for group combat.
And my current Trianoma maga in our Rhine saga is specialised in debate. I was on the fence about choosing 'magi' as this is among the listed examples in MetaCreator - because then it would help both in debate (with magi, but that's what counts for a political maga, unless also Gentle Gifted) as well as in the lab...
However would this speciality help if the assistants counted both magi and familiars? I think not, there has to be some drawback to this kind of cheesy speciality taken in lieu of 'labwork' because this is what you really want. I consider apprentices to be included in the 'magi' speciality btw.

That's ... so mandatory on most of my characters, I'd forgotten Bausa didn't have it already.
Thank you!

... I'll just spend a year on Leadership, why don't I?

Janus has Leadership 2 (debate), why on earth??? I think he learned it during some of the politically themes years.

Also, he has Teaching 4 (hermetic apprentices) - pity we're not really playing a saga, because he's an ok teacher...oh wait Com +0 - I usually have better Com than this :frowning:

But do people agree or disagree with my opinion that a magus assisted by other magi along with their familiars counts all these individuals among the number of assistants he can use?

Each familiar (beyond your own) would be a seperate assistant, no?
That's a lot of leadership I'll suddently need!

i just reread this thread to see possible spots of interaction and help think about years 61-75.

Is Bausas likely to cast his quickness boosting circle in the near future? if Andreva is aware of it she'd probably want to be in that circle (neither clumsy magic nor loose magic increase Bausas' botch dice)

He has magical memory? You know we're comfortable with some level of optimization here, you shouldn't feel compelled to overcompensate for your unearned lab bonuses.

He does healing, path of the body, and his personality traits are lilly white. You might plan to couple information gained from our connection with the Redcap network with the station of the spherical mirror to abolish outbreaks of disease in distant cities. Would there be some tricky issues to work through using magical sense spells to hear or smell disease in distant locations?

I suppose that an especially good longevity ritual for Bausas is somewhat redundant if he aims to achieve the last station on the path of the body.

I'm trying to think of a clever way to take advantage of his potent magic with healing but little comes to mind, he can develop potent healing spells for others to use? Ritual creo mentem to heal damaged minds? I see that his mentem is a very impressive 19. Develop some healing mentem rituals and put them in a waiting spell then give it to your monkey in case of an emergency to Bauses' mind? Nothing especially cool comes to mind.
Between subtle magic, potent magic and his burly arts I suppose that he could pull off drive by healing rituals with no one noticing.

Bausas would (obviously!) announce such a casting well in advance!
It is much more for the use of others (eg grogs and familiars) than for himself!
If you are interested, by all means take part, share in the power.
Perhaps I should also invent these circles for Stamina?

I'll be honest, Bausas is far from being as optimised as he could be. I have been working as hard on trying to be Apt as on thinking up new tricks and effects. Not quite the purpose, but Criamon magi have been giving me trouble in their current incarnation, and Bausas is probably as close as I will get to playing one in this edition.

Those are really good ideas. I should look into this. Maybe also get some R: Arcane, T: Boundary effects to cure cities while never getting close to them?
Less important though, with the Gentle Gift.

Oh, Bausas has initiated the The Avenue of Drinking the Winds of Inspiration And the Station of Spiritual Nourishment (HoH: MC, p. 62), which include this litle nugget:

So the Longevity Rituals he's interested in, are for other people!
I might need to increase my magic theory though, to handle the Vis needed for the ritual.

Potent versions of Rituals he already has? Could be useful.

Not a bad idea - so far the Mentem studies have been purely for Characteristic Raising purposes.

Don't forget the Gentle Gift either!

Drive by healing Rituals?

So along the lines of The Chirurgeon's Healing Touch or Gentle Touch of the Purified Body meets Treading the Ashen Path walked in a Labyrinth Meditation along the streets of a city?

Device:

The patron saint of vision is Santa Lucia or Saint Lucy. In her honour, Bausas creates this device:

Good ones, both of those devices.

How about a MuCo(An) device to grant hand and feet of a monkey, to help the sailors climb? This idea is most likely already on your list.

Saint Julia of Corsica is a patron saint of illnesses and conditions of the hands and feet.
In her honour, this device is created

It is. I considered granting them tails as well, but decided on a different path instead, as seen above

Callidus is the familiar of Bausas, and has shown remarkable dexterity with their feet, even gripping branches and holding their own weight. In his honour, Bausas creates this device:

This device has intentionally been designed with far more activations/day possible than necessary, because it didn't matter.

A spell:

1 season was spent to invent this.

Nice!

Everyone knows Horseshoes bring good luck. Bausas has created this small horseshoe with amber insert, in hopes of saving the lives of crewmen.
Expensive, but worth it, in his eyes.

I have to admit, when I first read the title for the effect I thought it was a remedy for seasickness...

Is Basuas Year +75 ready?
It looks like the other magi have all been posted for +75.

Nope, still a few seasons to go.

I should get to it then, eh.
