ArM5: House Loyalty (FULL)

Firstly, casting MuVi on spells that have already been cast spells (with a necessary duration). Then, branching off to allow use of MuVi on rival magics, provided the inventor has some knowledge of it. Then other limits, but two breakthroughs are enough for now.

Both are important roles, LR specialist provide resources and good reputation to the covenant by selling LR and is at least a decent healer which is an important role. Most Co specialist Iā€™ve seen end up taking rego in the long run to get teleportation and thatā€™s strong too.

Elementalist would be an asset in dealing with covenant laying out, ressource development and combat. Thatā€™s also quite handy specially If the location needs a more of work to be usable.

Bamberg works for me!

I've been considering Flawless Magic. But without some of my favorite Mastery options available right now, I think I'll stick with Life-Linked Spontaneous Magic. But for Arts, yes, Perdo and Vim with secondaries probably in Rego and Mentem.

I know they are both useful. LR specialist is easy to do and has been done many times. I made 90% of it last night in less than an hour. It helps that I have played the type before but in a Mercere. They can work on breakthroughs that increase the effectiveness of LR( less vis, longer lasting, fertility). It is a drain on the time ( most precious thing for magi) as you spend your time in the lab making things for other people. Kind of like a Verditius contract worker. All that being said it is helpful for the Covenant as a whole.

I do not see the Elementalist angle being done very much and it helps with a wide array of forms. It would be much more interesting to play but less of a help for the Covenant.

I can do either one. i favor the Elementalist becasue I feel it is different and thus, potentially, more fun. But I will do what is in the best interests for the group/Covenant.

It might help that the Vim players flip a coin and the loser makes something else. But that is only if we want a wider array of forms/specialists.

Actually, I think the Elementalist might end up being more useful to the covenant than the LR specialist. LR are easy to contract with someone outside the covenant, and it should be years before one of the young magi need one.

The Elementatist will also be more interesting story-wise, IMNSHO.

As a elementalist breakthrough, I would aim to incorporate Elemental Refining into Magic Theory. That has soooooooo many helpful things for magi. It would be a major. I will try to do a rough sketch tonight

No particular hurry on the specifics. Getting the saga up and running and establishing the covenant will take enough time that starting work on a breaktrough won't come into play until a few months at a minimum (real time).

I have created a few topics on our new forum to get things started. We can now move the discussions there.

I say go with the one you favor. Plus, @darkwing suggested picking either Creo or Perdo himself, so he could go with Creo if he wants and be our specialist in that area.

As far as utility for our covenant, I expect to be decent at craft magic. This comes as a result of pushing Finesse for speed in counter-magic. So I should be able to manage some things like making glass and steel from raw products.

We have 2 openings for players in the saga. Let me know if you are interested!

Certainly intrigued!
(Rushing to get a foot in the door before both spots are taken!)
Iā€™ve skimmed this thread, and while thereā€™s discussion of Houses and Tribunals, the final decisions on each have not leaped out at me (edit: I see, Bonisagi in the Rhine) I note that there was some discussion about diversity of Arts, and Iā€™d be quite happy to work up a concept in an area not well-covered.
However, I ought to point out that while I have played some 3rd and 4th Ed. Iā€™m a relative newbie to 5th Ed. (although I have most of the books somewhere) having joined one PbF which folded within weeks, to my disappointment. So, while I know the setting and basics passably (still a tad rusty) Iā€™m likely to need at least a little patience from others. In some cases this may be a deal breaker for existing players, so disclosure up front seems fair to all.

Don't worry, I'm very patient and our storyguide has been very patient so far. There's always a learning curve, and as Bonisagi we're all bound to try and push the limits of magic in a way that needs discussing at some point.

Thanks for that reassurance.
Iā€™ve now had a brief skim of the existing characters, and it seems MuAn, CrAu and Mu/ReVi are all covered. The reference to cliff-dwelling suggested a Terran magus might be useful, but I see thereā€™s an elementalist already. Iā€™ll keep pondering possibilities.

Hi John,

The main factor in this saga is for each player to build a character he will enjoy playing. I'm not worried about duplication of specialties so much, as the saga is character-driven. That means the stories being told are sourced from the characters themselves (from their background and interests). So just pick a concept you would like to play and we will explore it together.

A few important points to keep in mind is that the covenant is sponsored by Durenmar and composed of members of House Bonisagus. But each of these young magi have been having trouble finding a covenant to join. This may be because of something they did, how they act, or an unfortunate perception others have of them. It is your responsibility, when you create your character, to determine why. You can do this by choosing a Flaw, or just through the background story of your character.

Finally, aside from darkwing (who plays Borealis), the other players are missing. So we can simply play things as if they were never there for the moment. If one of them come back, we will just reintegrate their character in the tapestry of the saga.

We can discuss you character further in this topic: Character Development Discussions

I would like to express my interest if the second spot hasn't been taken.

I like the idea behind the saga and the covenant, it gives me a few different character ideas, which I can run by you and the troupe to figure out what works best, if there is a spot still available.

For anyone else, no more spots available at this time.

We have space for one more player.

Hi Arthur! I have been away from the boards for a while, but would like to join this experiment. I may have a concept by tomorrow evening, if a space is available, and flesh out a character by early next week. So, interested.

Greetings Festivus!

You can post your concept in Character Development Discussions

Welcome aboard!
