ArM5: The Heir of Laymunt Valley (4 to 6 additional players)

I like story about recruiting hedge magi, so I think I'd like to go for a Gently Gifted Pralician illusionist, if that's okay?

See above.

I'd like to apply for this game if it isn't too late. I hope my English is good enough (not a native speaker), but since I need English at work a lot, so I suppose I can do this. I think I am creative enough to eventually run stories for others, too.

I was thinking of creating a necromancer/healer/longevity mage, Mercere ideally, maybe Bonisagus. If I understand this game correctly I have to tell what kind of stories that mage is interested in.

Infirmus ex Mercere
House Mercere isn't picky, they take what they can get. They also have a slight tendency for inbreeding. So, they made this young man an apprentice despite his frail body. And he is grateful. He has shown huge talent to improve the human body and even at gauntlet, his longevity rituals are nothing to sneeze at. His quest for better people has led him to dabble in necromancy though.

Story ideas: anything a well-meaning nerd can blunder into outside the lab? Rivalry among CrCo experts? Wanting to help but being limited in interaction by the Gift?

There is still space in the saga, so you are welcome to join. Have you even played in the Play-by-Post format?

You can introduce yourself to the other players in this topic: Table Talk (OOC)

Discussions about your character concept will take place in this topic: Character Creation Discussions (OOC)

Ton anglais est excellent, alors je ne prévois aucun problème de ce côté!

I've never played Ars Magica as a Play-by-Post, but I've been in a few Vampire and Werewolf games. I think that Ars Magica might actually work well: We always needed to write down seasonal activities anyway because of all the modifiers.

I can't post in the other forum. I think it has something to do with what Bitter told me. Do you write invites or do I have to ask a forum administrator, or is this something that happens automatically after a few days?

No, you do it yourself, in your profile settings. Click your avatar -> preferences -> «Title».

Are you sure? I've found preferences, but there doesn't seem to be a button called title.

It is a drop down menu. Far down the page.

It's not a button, but a drop-down menu near the bottom of the parameters (below "Name").

Hi! Is there room for one more player?

I have been DMing (and occasionally playing) DnD5e for a few years.

Never run a complete Ars Magica Saga, only a few one shots, and I have never been a player either.

Zero experience with play by post, except for the exposure experience I got reading this forum.

I am also interested in joining if there are still slots open.

Hello @RafaelB and @Whaler !

Yes, there is still room more players in the saga. Make sure you read the first post of this topic (particularly the Saga Concept section), however, since becoming a player is also a commitment to create and run stories for the other players.

If you don't have experience with play by post, be aware that things can be very slow. There is usually a flurry of action (several posts per day) when you first create your magus, establish his background, etc. But stories can take several months to play out, particularly when multiple players are involved (we usually try to give them a chance to react and not everyone is in the same time zone). And occasionally, players will drop out without notice, so we end up waiting for a response before we move on.

All that being said, read back a few posts -- there are links to the correct thread where you can introduce yourself to the troupe, as well as discuss characters concepts. Note also that you need to have the "PbP Player" in your profile if you want to post in a saga forum. So you'll need to add that -- this was also discussed here recently.

Hi, I'm interested in joining your game as a player (and a beta storyguide, if I understand your game concept correctly). I've been toying with the idea of joining this forum for over a year, because I can't find an irl Ars magica group. I have twice participated in an Ars Magica game on rpol.net, but I usually play freeform Star Trek and The One Ring.

I'd like to create a Jerbiton maga who was kicked out of Switzerland for being too young, a charming and creative journalist-artist that specialises in using rings to store photographs/movies of people, ideally someone with a minor imaginem focus of depicting people. She tries to get the permission of famous magi to take their pictures so they can be conserved for posteriority (like those wriggling newspaper pictures from Harry Potter).

I'm interested in beta-guiding stories about mundane people (villagers, churchmen, noblemen). I hope my history-fu is up to the task. Lurking on this forum has taught me that there are quite a few people on this forum who know a lot more about the exact details of 13th century Europe, but I do know the basics at least.

I'm not the main SG, but welcome to the site! I think if you scroll up you should be able to find a link to the game and you can peek in.

You'll need to add yourself to the PBP Players group, here is the link: Play by post players - Atlas Games RPG Forum

Thanks,

I've read the Ask Atlas thread and have already clicked on that button - from what I've read in the game forum, people write two posts, one about themselves and one about their characters. Can I do that?

Go for it!

The saga is full at this time.

Just to let everyone know that we have open spots again! =]

I would love to, but... Arthur has seen my schedule himself. Available half the year, and then, suddenly eaten by the work monster for the other half.

The only workable solution I've found is to create a mostly background character, like I did in Andorra (Arachné, I'll love you forever), which won't fly here (Or in most saga,k actually ^^).

Good luck, people, have fun!
