Onyx Path has been doing crowdfunding for it's Exalted books, and in each of them there are Stretch Goals for novels and a companion book for that Exalt, and none of them have been written before the campaign starts. Yes, the text for the main book they're crowdfunding is all done, but not for these additions. And it works well for them.
"Surely the players will want to pursue the hidden assailant." and if they don't? We had a good time with the Ghoul as well...
As am I - and I know of a few more.
I think the rule against stretch goals that haven't been written is more about things being added to the offset print book being crowdfunded, or to adding new offset books. Things to be added by PDF later, or even to be turned into POD books later, aren't a huge problem for Kickstarters.
Well, the entire 5th line is now part of the CC license, since we've passed the $500k mark.
So I got the email about the early bird copy of the book and my computer is saying its an insecure link and its easy to modify and are you sure you want to open it.
Now I trust you guys and I know you are real but yeah I just want to make sure about the format and the system.
I just got my early bird manuscript documents and 2 of the files are showing up as corrupt and refusing to open. Virtues & Bestiary. Anyone else with the same problem or am I just unlucky?
Just tested and mine are opening fine. I can try on my ipad too if you like? Try redownloading?
Any way we can get the supernatural skills separated from the rest in the skill section to improve readability?
They are word files, you can just manually copy/cut and paste them into any order.
Their Write Protection comes with the zipping. If you extract them permanently, you better have them write-protected individually on your computer to keep them safe and quotable.
I assume this is in reference to the final layout of the Definitive Edition. I have to say, while having all the Virtues, Skills, etc. in one place is nice, it's also serious information overload and could do with better structuring. This book was definitely not made for newcomers.
Yeah. Also, while I feel like the basic core book options are for everyone, I think many groups would prefer to exclude some of the extra options (such as virtues or the detailed laboratory customization rules) included in the Definitive edition.
It's still great.
Right. This is the Definitive Edition, not the Starter Set. Different projects that cannot be done in the same book — because the Definitive Edition must have all the information in, or it is not Definitive, but that is overload for a starter set.
I am going through the documents, and I can only thank the team for the effort for clarifying and explaining in details - I am currently reading the Spells chapter, specifically everything related to containers and size. It was needed.
At the same time I can understand that it is not part of a starter set: that could scare many people who would be wondering if they need a PhD in Enigmatic Wisdom to proceed.
I just downloaded it and glanced at the Spells chapter. I like the way you updated Creo magic. You did the whole Finesse as a component and also Finesse as a roll, nice balance.
Cool phrase updates and stuff.
Folk Magic is listed as a flaw. I suspect it should be a virtue (or minor story flaw). Vulnerable to Folk Tradition is listed as a virtue, when it should be a flaw.
Ars Notaria needs to be added as 1. There are no divine supernatural virtues and 2. it is one of the few magical works we are sure is from the Ars time period. I might also suggest adding Craft magic from Sociatas as it can model historical magical practices of the period.
Please consider reorganization of the virtues and flaws into subsections for each type. The volume presented makes alphabetical listing different.
Does Sense Passions really need to be infernal only by ROW? While this is powerful, this is also a major virtue.
After the magic realm, the options available seem unbalanced towards the infernal.
Also, Hermetic Divination from the Mysteries needs to be included. While Divination does appear under folk tradition, divination is just too important to many magical traditions not to include a version of it it.
My understanding is that "can easily be treated as a standalone virtue" was one of the criteria for inclusion in the Definitive Edition. Both Divination and Ars Notoria require a significant amount of text to explain what they do, so I suspect that's at least part of why they're not in there.
If the maga's body remains in the real world while she is in Twilight, it is completely immune to magic, mundane damage, aging, and hunger.
That should be magic, and all sources of damage, Fatigue and Deprivation, right?
