[ARS] Recommended reading: Magic in Medieval Manuscripts

I visited the British Library this morning and picked up a slim book
which covers a wide range of magical ideas , most of which turn up in Ars Magica,
and provides copious illustrations taken from the BL's collection.
Quite a lot of the illustrations are post 1220
but many of the ideas behind them are potentially useful in a saga.

Chapters headings:
the medieval magician , natural magic , the power of the image ,
the magical universe , necromancy and sorcery.

There is a useful, brief bibliography.
The author is Sophie Page.

Just started reading a library copy of this book.

One thing that the Order of Hermes has missed out on :
[color=red]HATS!

disputing with pagan magicians who are distinguished by their exotic hats.
