where multiple copies are listed this is in addition to the covenant copy
Additionally 1 scribe (we won't name names) forgot to check cow and calf and copied a protected book, Solomon and Vocis will be consulted as to whether it needs to be scraped clean so the vellum can be reused or if it can be set into a vault somewhere so we can keep a copy safe while we use the original. (the book was Gazing on Heaven)

So, here's what I have now:

(The exact list of lab texts can be found on the wiki)
Please feel free to double check my math.

Now all we need is for Marko to tell us what deals Lucas can make in Provencal and Iberia, given all this.

Hold up, I messed up the lab texts, we should only have 625 levels total- I was using the numbers at the tope of each form as total levels which makes no sense now that I am better rested.
We'll go with:
ReVi20r Aegis of the Hearth
ReVi30r Watching Ward
ReVi30 Circular Ward Against Demons
PeVi20 Demon’s Eternal Oblivion
CrTe35r Conjuring the Mystic Tower
MuTe25 Hardness of Adamite
ReMe20 Mind Trick of the Tremere
InMe45 Spectral Communion
PeIm20 Veil of Invisibility
InIm25 Summoning the Distant Image
CrIm40 The Shadow of Human Life
CrAn35 Wizard’s Mount
ReAq30 Bridge of Frost
CrAu40 Breath of the Open Sky
CrCo40r Incantation of the Body Made Whole
ReCo35 Leap of Homecoming
CrHe35r The Bountiful Feast
ReAn30 Commanding the Harnessed Beast
MuAn40 The Steed of Perseus
Cr(Re)Au30 Wings of Soaring Wind

Ooh, could I throw a couple of more things on the wish list?

For Solomon:
Level 5+ Summa, or Quality 17+ Tractatus for:
Dead Language: Aramaic
Dead Language: Ancient Greek
Dead Language: Hebrew

Level 5+ Summa of:
Area Lore: Ancient Middle East
Area Lore: Ancent Caspian Sea Area

Anything on Area Lore: Ancient Mesopotamia (note Ancient Magics says these are quite rare)

Obviously, all of these are related to his interest in studying the Language of Adam, and he's willing to pay for the personally if Vocis doesn't think the Covenant needs them.

For Acutus:
Any texts on ancient heroes of old or "exemplars" of human traits (for him to attempt to gain Insight from as he tries to invent a new mystery)

Quality 17+ tractatus! Do such things even exist?

They would be ultra premium and very rare. Twice normal cost at least.
Base 6, Com +5, Good Teacher, Resonance and Clarification squeeks us out to Q16. So it may be just out of range.
But with a Florilegia or an author with Mythic Communication or an appropriate Major Essential Virtue, that would hit it.
Super premium and ultra rare.

While we're dreaming, I'll also add the following for Lucas:

  • Any Mutantes spell we can find (i.e., Boosted, Harnessed, and/or Tethered)

It'd be nice not to have to invent them all.

What additional books would be available in Spring 1241 when Lucas heads through Iberia?

Yeah, I wasn't really thinking. Two tractata that add up to at least that would probably work as well, just increase the study time. Basically Solomon has a 4 in each of those languages and wants to get them to a 5, which requires 25xp. A 17 quality gets him there because he is a Book Learner and a Linguist. So his source quality would be: 17+3*1.25 = 25 exactly.

Any last things for the wish list?

Also, when can we handle the actual trading?

Please do not rate books in BP. The covenant was built and established already. The in-game value is in Vis. Or quarter-pawns of it (round up to the nearest whole pawnfor the bulk value in trading). QP is similar to BP, but not exactly. Premium books havedouble value, and poor books have half value. And the rate for Abilities is distorted a bit.
Plus, it is plausible to presume a slight inequality to trades. We get a little less than we give. No hard rule here, self govern it. And if you put some in-game played out effort and a successful bargain roll, we might get a bit more than we give. I once had rules for this, but I scrapped them as a needless complication.

Part of the issue with 1241 trades os I have a number of slots to fill still that will depend on what trades you make- a book you sell may be copied again or a book you buy if not covered by calf and cow.

Here are our available texts in 1237 with values in qpv.

TOTAL LAB TEXTS: 125 qpv

That's a total of 847 qpv of books we're trying to trade. Now, Lucas is going across the entirety of two tribunals to make these trades, so I'm going to assume he can eventually get rid of all the books. For the sake of discussion, let's assume a 90% value trade rate, which is 762 qpv. I'm not even entirely sure that's reasonable, since we've purposefully copied some high quality books. Then again, we're looking for some high quality books as well. I'm also assuming that any books we trade/sell will be under Cow & Calf, and that any books we trade/buy will be under Cow & Calf. That should even out across the books.

So, if we assume 762 qpv of books to buy/trade for, the next step is to figure out what books would be available. The fairest thing to do, I'd imagine, is to have someone else make up a list of what books Lucas can get, and have me pick from that list based on the wish list everyone gave, since Lucas is doing the footwork.

Any volunteers to make up a list of books avaialable for trade?

I'd begin with the spells from the corebook. These are very probably tradeable. The same for average books. OTOH, we have some good books to trade, which helps get a good deal.

So I'd take about 60% on our vis.

Spend it on corebook spells.
Once this is done, move on books, and spend the rest on average books.

We're left with 40% of our starting vis.

From these, take 25% of our starting vis.
Spend it on non-corebook spells. Nothing strikes me as that unusual, but let's say that one, at random, is not available to trade, whatever the reason.
Then spend the rest on good books. Likewise, pick one summa, at random, on which there's nothing at this level and the next.

That leaves us with 15% of our starting vis to spend on the better books. 2 other summaes should be unavailable at this level.

And before someone says that this means too few good books, remember: Spells are bought first, which pushes the books up.

For the arts at least we already have average books (depending on how you define average) on every art. Why do we need to allocate resources to buying what we already have?

That's a good point I had forgotten, thanks.

But it's not as much an impediment as it may sound.

Since, for example, he's searching for an Intellego Summa with Quality above 10, this means that even a L06/Q15 vain summa could qualify, and be useful for those magi wanting to train an apprentice, bringing them from 0 to 5 in a season. This goes for a lot of books on our list: They could be perfectly average but still useful to us.

As for Hermetic books quality, it is talked about in Covenants, in the library chapter.
And if this ain't enough, we also have game stats for books by great men such as Euclid, Ptolemy or Aristotle and more for inspiration.

We need Lab Texts for Aegis of the Hearth at better levels, a 40 and a 50.

Just wanted to bump this to see if anyone was willing or able to figure out what books are available for trade.

1237 is listed above, unless we are talking about what he can get, which would be a very long list based on the fact you are traveling two tribunals...
