Can you make an arcane connection to a spell?

It's possible to obtain an arcane connection to anything, right? What's an arcane connection to an ongoing spell? The target of that spell? The spellcaster?

I don't think you can have an arcane connection to a spell. You'd use a target connection to the target of the spell instead.

A bunch of these are conditional.

CrAn a horse and take a hair from it. Now you have an AC to an ongoing spell effect.

AC’s to targets of spells are standard, so I think I’m missing the point of the next one. For example, you have a hair from a person and use that AC to cast a spell on the person.

There is a Virtue and a Flaw that make your spells AC’s to you.

MuViAn to change a spell into a horse, pull a hair from the horse, then use a circular casting to keep the hair transformed while in your lab.

Somehow, I don't think that's a legit guideline, silveroak.

Thats an interesting suggestion.

It’s not legit, but you could do similar with MuVi and Anima Magic (Merinita). Unless the statement was different than I read: change it to CrAn so the spell makes a horse.

I guess my question is - why would you care to make an arcane connection to an ongoing spell anyway? The only practical use I can think of would be dispelling and penetration at a distance, which could be achieved with an arcane connection to what's being affected by the spell. What's the point?

I’ve used it this way:
CrAn to make an animal.
Take an AC.
Do stuff through the (controlled) animal at R: AC.

I would think those reasons are extremely useful, in particular for any sneaky mage. For example, dispelling an ongoing mind-control spell that a powerful enemy magus has cast affecting multiple targets at the worst possible time. Dispelling spells from afar, that have a long duration, that the dispelling magus cast, could have many applications for mayhem, trickery, and death. Dispelling spells that affect many targets, but with the one casting (and with target individual, for a single spell) can be powerful. Dispelling held spells, etc...

For the record, I don't think you can obtain ACs to a specific spell, except to their targets. Which in some cases, may be the only thing you need.
But being able to do so has definite uses, as you could duplicate the Harnessed Magic virtue with none of the drawbacks. And more!

I tend to agree. Which has always led me to the question. If there are multiple spells active on the target, how do you target a specific one unless you have some supernatural sense that allows you to see them (like Sight of the Active Magic)? My answer is that you can't, so any spell that is targeting a single spell (such as dispelling) will affect one spell at random.

Oh, the original thought was a character with the Divination and Augury virtue who can use those to both get bonuses and avoid having to use their supernatural ability in disadvantageous auras.

However, I also just thought it was an interesting question.

In that case, my suggestion would be to look at retrieving arcane connections from a distance. Rego Sight spells are effective, and so are animate beings (animals, but could be elementals, etc.) retrieving things for you. Good arcane connections to a place you want info on but want to avoid entering are relatively easy to retrive - rocks last for years and yield a +3, for example.
