Certamen Styles

I've just introduced Certamen to the group, and we're using the rules in the Tremere chapter in True Lineages. In the style of Pumilius, the text is a bit unclear. If using this style, the duelist projects a funny illusion into the duel instead of doing damage. This doesn't mean that he have to project an illusion every round, does it? He can choose when to do it, doing no damage, the goal being that his opponent have to choose if he'll loose his attack or defense? Am I right? Seems a bit too silly if he have to use the illusion every round...

You're right, you get to drop back into "standard" certamen.
