Chapter 17 where the chapterhouse is established

Sionag, as other, isn't complicated to find. Since the manor is built, she works on his laboratory to have a place where studying.

"I don't know anymore than Cath'rinne about the faeries. But so, we have a faeric goat keeper, some guards of a king and ... predator ? What do you know about this Lady ? I'm sure we can discuss with her. There is no reason to speak about killing in first time..."
She mumbles : "even in second in fact."
"Hum, so. In forest. Cath'rinne, can you talk with the creatures and beasts around to learn more about this Lady Glastig ?"

Cath'rinne replies "I'm blatant gifted. Social interactions with non magi tends to be more pain than it's worth. I can get along with vultures and talk to them somewhat, but even they are suspicious I'll steal their lunch. A bird of virtue, I have some chances to talk to, I suppose. They tend to not react to the gift so much. I can help if things go horribly wrong, Thom, but if I come along, it's best I stay some distance away if you want any chance to strike a deal with that faerie."

Turold will pipe in next: "If it comes to talking to animals, though, Ruedi and me can handle that. The forest is my home. Well, this one less so than Sherwood, but it's a home nonetheless. Ruedi can follow her tracks... but I'll know when we're near her lair, or that of other faeries."

"Oh, the blatant gift has also an impact with wild beast... I didn't know."
The maga thinks a little.
"I can't help with the forest, the track or the beasts, it's really not my domain. Maybe I can help to discuss with the Lady, even I don't know anything about faerie. And for the worse case... don't count on me. I can help you after, if needed."

Edwin decides to speak up. "I will come with you, as we currently depend on livestock to stay alive and they are very difficult to purchase at market. Dealing with this....nisse.... is necessary, unless you have a magical alternative to keep this site supplied with meat, milk and wool."

Thom listens and nods.

"Then it sounds like Ruedi and Turold guide us in our search for the Glastig with Edwin and I on ground. Lady Cath'rinne, it would be helpful to have you watching from above in case we get into a pickle and to scout a bit if you can. Sionag, you can hold the fort down here at the Circle and we'll get you if needed. Sounds like a plan."

"But before we go let me just share the situation we have with the Fae in the area, at least as far as I have learned. First the Nisse. Nisse are a simple fae, some call them brownies or house elves. I met the Nisse who watches over our goatherd when I ran into Master Luciu, may his soul be at rest. I brought the Nisse and the goatherd and herders along with me to Ungulus and now here to the Circle. The Nisse is a friend but he isn't a strong fae and will stay hidden away from most."

"We also have a strong neighbor, the King of the Foam, who inhabits Cauldron Falls along the river east of the Circle. The entrance to his kingdom is guarded by two otters. Mansized otters when they want to be. I've set up a sort of alliance or at least friendship with the King and his guards. But we need to be respectful of their domain about the falls. I've alerted the grogs who are with us, but we all need to be respectful and wary."

"And now we find this Glastig who has some domain here in the Forest. We'll need to find her and parlay with her. I don't know much about her, so we'll have to see as we go."

"That's what I know so far."

"Shall we go follow those tracks?"

Sionag takes notes about the information from Thom.

"I can come with you. Sometimes a travelling is an issue when some people are wounded."

Thom smiles to Sionag.

"So glad you'll join us. Your goodness and healing ways may help us in our efforts to show that we're good neighbors."

The little party, with the skills of Turold and Ruedi, have no trouble picking up the trail. They follow it for almost half a mile, before it ends in front of a large uprooted tree overgrown in bright green moss. The tree forms a natural shelter, covered not only by the trunk as a roof, but also by hanging sheets of the wet moss.

Inspecting the tree, you find it bursting with life, insects, larvae, and everything else that thrive in old forrests and rotting woods. Birds keep a little away, in other trees nearby. The forest is old, it seems, but not particularly dense. There are no obvious paths, but enough space between the trees to get around.

It is late morning by this time, assuming that you needed a second breakfast before departing.

Did you bring others than Sionagh, Thom, Turold, and Ruedi?

Ruedi keeps a look around, but engages the birds in polite conversation, introducing himself, and asking about Lady Glastig.

«Hello, stranger,» tweets the blackbird. «You do not know the Lady? She rests in the darkest forest, where man does not dare go. What makes you so bold as to seek her out?»

"Hello friend, we have only just heard of the Lady, and we've come to pay her a visit, and discuss things, since we've just moved in close by."

«Pay her a visit,» gasps the blackbird, just to fly off to tweet to another blackbird. «Those people want to visit the Glastic,» it tweets, and both birds fly away in different directions.

The other birds too, seem shocked by the thought of people visiting the Glastig.

Ruedi turns to his companions "The birds say that she lives in the darkest part of the forest."

Thom nods to Ruedi. "Fitting is she comes from a Winter or Dark Court."

Thom takes a Second Sight glance around the area [Second Sight: 11] looking for any Fae or other creatures in the area. He also takes a moment to use his ring to see if he can spot a regio passage.

None of you are able to see into any regione, but the ring reveals to Thom that one exists, but there is no opening to see through. Just a dark shadow acting as a solid barrier.

Thom looks at the others.

"There is a regione here but it seems to be closed or barred. I think we should consider setting up a camp here and waiting for night. Just to see if it opens by night. If the Glastic is of the Night Court... that may be the trick."

Cath'rinne is there in vulture form, hovering at a distance she can keep an eye on the group.

Looking around when her companion asks birds about the Lady, Sionag takes time to knowing more about the area.

There is no aura there. The tree is a pine, belonging very naturally just where it is, in the mixed forest of the Northern Pennines. The moss feels very at home on dead and decaying trees.

The moss may have some anti-inflammatory properties, like many mosses have, but it is nothing to write home about.

In case you hadn't noticed, the canon default situation for a regio, is zero aura surrounding the entrance.

"So, it seems to have no danger here... If we except the entrance of a regio of dark fey who shuns creatures, of course. We can wait, yes. But I think that will be better if we have a guard, just to be sure."
