Esteban rephrases. "Why is it that you are begging, instead of practicing some other trade?"
He looks at you with confusion. Then his face lights up with an idea. He has three oranges Carmen gave him (he has been saving them), and he start's juggling. He does a few tricks, a backflip, and never drops a single one. Then he cathces them all and takes a bow.
Oscar (the grog) leans over to Alexandro
[color=red]I think this is his profession. Typical tramp performer.
Esteban applauds and flips him a farthing.
Esteban is kind of watching the beggar/performer to see what he does next...
He does a trick involving a handstand and juggling two items while hopping on one hand
Esteban says, "Wow! That is very impressive! Can you juggle these?" He throws the tramp three whole silver pennies.
He is pretty good, but not super human. If you toss the coins at him in mid-trick, he will get confused and fumble everything. He smiles, shrugs, and starts over.
It stands to reason that, if he is this good, other troupe performers must certainly know who this guy is. If you are ready to carry on with the game, we can move on to Barcelona and sort this mystery out
OOC
If we're ready?!? Our master storyteller disappears off the face of the earth for 2 months, and then wonders if we're ready to continue?!?
In short, yup! Ready!!!

I did not disapear! I announced a hiatus, and I have been in constant contact since.
I just had to fisish this [CENSORED] project, which is nearly done now.

I am ready to continue, and will be back tomorrow with more (library is closing)
Well I meant to throw those coins after he was done.
This is meant to be very generous BTW.
I am fine with skipping ahead to Barca. Laetitia doesn't trust the tramp; if it's okay with Mark that a magus can transport a small familiar along with ReCo spells then she'll pop ahead and meet up in Barca.

Oh, okay ![]()
He's not that smart though, and really did think it was part of the trick ![]()

Cool.
The Covenant of Barcelona is a bit prickly concerning visitors, but mainly that's because they have to deal with so damn many of them. It has been ruled that they have jurisdiction over their entire city, but at the same time they cannot deny other magi the goods and services of that city. The Q's basically told them that they either have gto allow for Hermetic traffic or they were responsibe for acquisition and transportation of goods and services. They decided the second option sucked, so they have adaped themselves to deal with visiting magi. They never expected the traffic volume to grow to the extent it has, and Barcelona has become something of a Hermetic Casablanca. But it has turned into big business.
Barcelona magi prefer that visitors announce their arrival ahead of time so that they may send servents to greet them outside the city. Hardly anyone ever does that. But there is a mandate that visiting magi check in with the covenant at "Guyo Argento", the Silver Rooster, an inn and tavern controlled by the covenant. That doesn't always work out. However, the Q's have further made allowances as to how and when the magi may scry upon you, not a viloation if you are inside their covenant (the whole city) without having announced yourself (meaning that you are legally considered an intruder).
Barcelona magi include: Farusca of Jerbiton, Cares of Jerbiton, Odo of Jerbiton, Constans Hispanus of Jerbiton, Erus Pavo of Jerbiton, and Yvall of Mercere.
Laetitia checks in at the Silver Rooster and pays a few coins to get a message to the magus Mercere, asking if he'd be so kind as to meet with her. "Make certain to inform him that this is strictly a social call, and not business, please," she implores. While waiting she finds a quiet corner in which to straighten her bodice and smooth out her dress while she awaits him.
Since Laetitia has gone ahead and no one else seems to mind the presence of the tramp, Esteban is happy to let him tag along.
His immediate priority is to try to get back on Carmen's good side, since he's been spending a lot of time with Laetitia lately. "What a beautiful day for a journey! We should make good time to Barcelona. I can't imagine Laetitia's business will take us much longer. Carmen, where would you like to go once she has returned to Italy? I tell you, Andalusia has much to recommend it. It would be wonderful, just the two of us .. and Alexandro, of course, as chaperone. As little as you need one, especially in the company of an honorable gentleman such as myself, I could never forgive myself should your reputation become tarnished." (Esteban's gaze suggests that his intentions are not as honorable as he claims.)

Matteu "the Bouncer" Mendoza is the covenant's Autocrat (he used to be the bouncer back in 1197, aand though he has matured he is on Longevity and still holds his undefeated reputation). Sliding people cash is the way business gets done in the city. He smiles, shouts in Catalan to his assistant, who then retreves Yuvall for you. He comes down and greets you with smiles

Look, I love my brother, but I am a maga and he is a mundane. I look out for him.
And sometimes he just gets in the way ![]()
Carme's expression indicates that her intentions are not at all whay you would consider "honorable", yet at the same time she doesn't seem to consider either your or her intentions "dishonorable".
Laetitia buys dinner for the magus Mercere, flirts a bit (doesn't hurt to be nice!), and tries to get all the local info out of him.
Antonio frowns disapprovingly at the increasing coziness between his sister and that guy to whom she's most definitely NOT married.

Dinner is free (since the covenant owns the inn), so I presume you wisely (and generously) tip the barmaid and servants.
[color=red]What are you interested to know? Erat Caecus is in town, again! I swear, that guy must not have anything better to do. What else? Relations with the Order of Geonim are progressing well. Since I am Jewish, they have allowed me into their calls (walled settlements)[color=red] to meet with their mystics several times.
Then there is Golda Simon, a hedge wizard fortune teller. I see her as a key to harmonious relations between our Orders. She is Jewish and from here in Barcelona. Her husband owns the Gold Gryphon tavern, and he is somewhat, um, "unmanly", and he, er, doesn't care for the attention of women. (Translation = he is as gay as a spring lamb)[color=red]. Long story short, she is the mistress of a Hermetic magus named Antonio of Flambeau, and her daughter Carmen is also a Flambeau maga. Basically, this puts her in the position of something akin to a liason between our Orders. My fellow coreligionists would not normally pay attention or give respect to a Jewish witch, but they view her the same way we do, a lynchpin that helps maintain cordial relations.
Alexandro frowns disapprovingly at the increasing coziness between his sister and that guy to whom she's most definitely NOT married.
I corrected the name. Alexandro is the brother, Antonio is the father.
But yeah, your sister is a vixen and it pisses you off. And this is not the first time either.
Then again, she is her father's daughter. And your mother (Maria) vehemently hates her mother (Golda) and frequently refers to your sister as "that whore's daughter". That does bother you deeply, for you cannot stand to hear your sister insulted that way but at the same time you must respect your mother. The best you can do is try to make sure Carmen doesn't turn out to be a slut like her mom.
And that means you may have to nip this nascent romance in the bud.
What to do? What to do?
Is Esteban familiar with Barcelona? Does he know anyone at the Silver Rooster?
