Unless this is the mother of the child Yannick already knows, she'll earn herself a distinct:
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
complete with the hair on Yannicks neck standing straight up.
The same is true for anyone not being the childs mother, including the soon-to-be-entering-the-regio-villains...
Heinrich gives a quick bow and speaks in Latin at first and then German if it's not working - Great King! We are the rescuers of this child! We were directed by visions and have a pack of diabolists at are rear! We have the support of the family and villagers to assist. - Heinrich stands gasping for air.
Panting from the run into the regio, Krispin bows deeply to the warrior.
“Hail, great lord. We have met before, or else we have met someone who looked much like you. When last we met, I believed you admonished us to rescue the child I had seen in my vision. This is that child, lord. You instructed us to return to your barrow to receive our reward, and then flee with the child across the sea – you implied she would be safe there? Is that not what you said, or have we been misled?
If you do indeed wish to preserve the life of this child, enemies who wish to do her harm are not far behind us, and may seek to enter your hall. Pray, you seem a strong warrior and doughty - would you join your arm with our magic to protect this child?"
Justus and Ardeth turn to face the entrance they came through perparing spells. Justus is unnable to see any boulders but there are a number of tables and large Iron cooking utensils (Caudron, spit etc).
Heinrich and Krispin both soeak with the Lord of the Hall as they Finish , the Ghost lets out a cry of anger and rage
THEY DARE ! IN MY VERY HALL. WHERE ARE MY THANES ! COME TO YOUR LORD
He pulls from his belt a great Horn and Blow it loudly as he does a dozen skeletal figures draped in the remains of Mail armour and with swords , shields, spears and Axes step from the shadows of the hall.
The weeping women seems unafraid of Yannicks growl and teeth and embraces the child .
The Pursuers burts into the room and come to a halt clearly suprised by what they have burst into.
Beowulf Stride forward drawing his spectral blade , around him his thanes rush forward shouting out battle cries in some ancient dialect
Yannick is a little puzzled as he tries to keep the child out of the reach of a spectral woman, swords, axes and a bunch of diabolists at the same time. To make things worse, Yannick is unsure if THEY means the diabolists or the magi Ad fons...
Anyhow, he prepares for a hasty retreat. Any chandeliers Yannick could fly to and watch from?
Krispin averts his eyes from the battle that is likely to follow. He will not fight unless it looks like the warrior is in danger of losing. Time enough to grieve and perhaps heal those wounded after the fighting is over. Even if those being healed don’t always deserve it…
(this is all assuming the magi don’t appear to be in danger from Beowulf and thanes)
Yannick rapidly shifts to the form of a giant crow and flies up to the chandalier carrying the child. The Crying ghost floats up with him staying near the child.
Krispin and Heinrich hang back near the edge of the hall.
Justus Uses a spontaneous ReTe spell to throw the spit at the one eyed man leading the pursuers but misses.
Ardeth throws obsidian darts at the first of the tattooed men and they plunge into his flesh drawing blood and slowing him down.
The Thanes and the King join the attack and the pursuing Diabolists soon go down cut to pieces by the spectral warriors whose blades seem real enougth.
Once the intruders are dead the Thanes fade away like mist .
The King returns to his throne and address the magi.
For protecting my Line you have my gratitude. My Treasures here are long gone. However for your aid I would reward you go my barrow on the coast , my thanes will know you and let you pass from there take what you would as your reward. Take my descendent with you this place is not for her. You must go soon my nemesis awakes and you cannot stand against it. To drive it away cost me my life . Should you seek my treasures you would have to defeat the beast and welcome to them you will be should you defeat it.
He looks at Krispin
Although you are no warrior, I beleive that you have the best chance of defeating my enemy although you do not know how.
"Know begone, your presence here disturbs my wife and Ursula go and live your lives well
He settle back on the throne and he , the hall and the other ghosts begin to fade away leaving only the hacked bodies of the diabolists on the ground
Heinrich brushes some of the dust off his shoulders and strides up to the front-line combatants. He utters - Frankly, I'm still concerned about how the knights back onshore by the wreck are making out. Nice work everyone.
Krispin nods absently, clearly somewhat preoccupied and perplexed by the King’s admonition. “Indeed, indeed. Let us return to those we have left within that barrow, and take this child to safety.
Unless the way back is obscured somehow, Krispin joins his sodales in heading back to the barrow and the group they have left behind.
As the magi gather together a White Dove lands on the ground in front of the magi and transforms to a tall women dressed in white leather armour. She speaks in Latin
"Greetings, I am Freya of Tremere , My mistress commands you to meet with her in Varberg. There is no threat from diabolists there now.
Yannick will reassume his human shape for the occasion, after having requested his clothes...
I have seen the fires go out in the village. I hope there wasn't another raid.
Within a split-second (and without a second thought), even before the sentence is finished, Yannick replies harshly:
I am no servant to your mistress. I will NOT be commanded. So unless you have a good reason for me to be inclined to come visit her, you can tell her she can insert something rude here!
Yannick will reassume his human shape for the occasion, after having requested his clothes...
I have seen the fires go out in the village. I hope there wasn't another raid.
The fires where going out at the town not the village you visited
Archmage Justice Quasitor filia Ti follower of Tremere would be most upset if she had to be distracted from her duties to come speak with junior mages like yourselves. It is spring so she may be amused rather than angered but I would not defy her , she can be dangerous to anger. I have delivered her message and my duty is done
Krispin sniffs and absently dusts his robe as he watches the exchange between Yannick and the Tremere. His face is impassive, but his feathers are obviously ruffled. Once Yannick has had his say, he also joins in the conversation. "A slight to the weak is as dangerous in its way as a slight to the powerful, and there is no substitute for common courtesy. You and my sodalis here might both do well to remember that."
He pauses, turning away from a moment. "With such a rude invitation, I, personally, am disinclined to comply. I am a magus just as she, bound by the Code just as she, with equal rights under it. Perhaps if her messenger were more polite, or more specific."
Though I agree with you Krispin you must remember that the Code doesn’t apply here. We are in the middle of nowhere. Perhaps we shall seek out this quesiatoris Justice and see what she has to tell us?
