Betula, curious, watches as Sionag attends to Thomas.
"Yes, I think you got it. To the big water. Thank you," says Hamish with a smile. "And stay safe. We need you alive."
Thom stands still while he is being examined.
Sionag finds that he has a medium wound, localized largely to his torso along his left side, ribs, and intercostal muscles. Ribs have been cracked, muscles torn, clearly painful with each breath. The contusions from the severe blunt force trauma are still black and blue, yellowing a bit around the edges.
"Hum, ok... I will need a fire during two days. I count on you for that."
Sionag looks around to other magis and companions, permanent heat is the key of the process. She washes her hands and, after asking him the permission, casts another spells, to help him to natural healing.
[mythic herbalism roll : 11. Sionag makes 6 doses of a potion to ignore wound penalty up to medium wounds in 2 days of work.]
[Spontaneous Creo Corpus spells : roll 14 + 33 (magical focus + aura) = 47. Base 4 (recovery +9), touch +1, moon +3 -lvl total 20]
When Sionag says this Betula says, "I can help," and begins casting. [Fatiguing spontaneous casting Base 2: Create a plant product R: Touch, D: Moon, T: Group CrHe 20 Focus applies casting total 40/2 = 20 SUCCESS] At the conclusion of her spell a large pile of birch logs appears. Much more than enough for 2 days of constant fire.
"I am curious about your use of herbs and potions, Sionag. Might you instruct me in some of the useful herbs?"
So you take the two days to give Sionagh time to work her herbalism. Understanding that you all head for further adventure, Chronos departs the following morning. Looking at a distant hill to the Southwest, he takes a long step, as if trying to jump across a river, and suddenly he seems to be pulled by a breeze and disappears into nothingness. You think, maybe, a little dot suddenly appeared on the distant hill, but it is much to distant for certainty.
IIUC all the die rolls were successful. Would someone who has read up on all the relevant rulesets care to summarise the resolution? TIA.
The journey to the East coast takes a few days without incident. Scouting at dusk and by air, Cath'rinne spots two giants around a campfire, but they are day's march North of your route. Or maybe a little less with giants' legs, but they look rather lazy with little regard for anything outside the light from their campfire.
Finding the islands is easy enough, that is, you can see them in the distance when you reach a hill overlooking the sea. Several fishing villages dot the coastline, and between them, there is a modest manor house on a hill, which is dominated by the ruins of a much larger fort.
You still have provisions for three or four days, but foraging has not been as good lately, as it was earlier in the Autumn, and the group is larger now than it was. The Southern group did not bring pack animals, did they? (If they did, make it four days.)
Where do you go next?
Turning to the other magi Betula says, "If my remembrance is correct there is supposed to be a regio on these shores that can lead us to the regios of the islands. We could also see about hiring a fisherman or someone to take us to the islands. Either way it may be prudent to replenish our supplies."
Cath'rinne will fly down. "Should we see whether this manor house is inhabited before going to the islands? The fort seems ruined. A boat could be useful to explore, yes."
Turold will chime in that, if weather permits, he's happy to fish to get some more food on their plates.
"Let us see with the fisherman if they can provide us with some supplies. We are indeed running low," says Thadeus, agreeing with Betula.
"Cath'rinne," he turns to the Bjornaer maga once she's landed, "I could make you invisible so that you can get closer to the manor house and ruins without drawing attention to yourself."
"That sounds wonderful. Doubly so if I don't have to deal with a fisherman."
Assuming Thadeus follows through, she'll leave to recon the ruined fort first.
Thadeus casts the invisibility spell on Cath'rinne. (OOC Since this is not stress I won't bother with a roll.)
Hamish stands by to take action as needed.
Thom seems to have regained some of his enthusiasm, casts a few preparatory spells: Doublet of Impenetrable Silk, Eye of the Hawk (Success), The Scent of Nearby Vis (Rolled 0 but not a botch. Does it still succeed given that the total is 16 and exceeds the Level?).
Cath'rinne finds the manor to be a rather sleepy community. She can smell smoke from the main building, but there is not even enough to be visible, and nobody is seen outside. Suddenly, as she is circling, a flock of crows is heading straight towards her, as if they don't see her at all.
Who join Thadeus to go to the fishing village?
Cath'rinne will maneuver out of the way.
OOC: Rolled a 14, adding only Athletics, with the swift flight specialty, which seems to apply. She has a Dex of 1, and a Quickness of 2 which are not counted since I was not sure which was most applicable here.
Turold will go.
Finn will go to the fishing village
"I will join you, Thadeus." says Ealhstan.
Cathrinne avoids the crows easily, preparing for the wind and turbulence caused by the flock. The crows had no warning, and a couple of them, passing closest to Cathrinne, suddenly drop a foot and crow in panic. A man, who is just outside in response to nature calls, is startled and watches for a moment while the crows compose themselves and fly off to nearby trees. Then the sky is again quiet.
Thom, with his hawk eyes, can see the spectacle in the air as well.
Thadeus, Turold, Ealhstan, and Finn (anybody else?) make their way down to the village on the coast. It is about two miles South of the manor. It is late afternoon when you walk into the village, just time for a brief talk if you want to return to the others by nightfall.
The village is only a tad more lively than the manor. A young woman with ginger braids see to the chicken, and an aging, but still strong and fit, man is inspecting the fishing nets hung to dry close to the sea, and one is tinkering on a boat down at the shore, but most people must be indoors. There are maybe eight cottages, and fires seem to be burning in most of them, if not all.
Edwin will eagerly join the group heading to the village, keen to stretch out the meager food supplies and see if there is anywhere warm to sleep for the night. It has been a hard journey on the road.
Finn sets his faerie hat on his head and begins to loudly speak “Hello my friends, this is your lucky day. How often does a master bard visit this area to entertain, educate and fascinate all who hears his stories. Fetch all those absent so none miss the spectacle to come, roll up, roll up my friends” a great smile on his face.
Ealhstan smiles as the bard steps forward and begins to speak.
