Chapter IV (1234-1240)

(PB, Lucas actually applied specifically for Sa Dragonera after Solomon asked him directly)

((Oh. um...woops. I forgot that. Time for an edit.))

"Mercere has expressed an interest in establishing him here. However, after speaking with Solomon, Lucas believes that Sa Dragonera is a better fit for him than Andorra proper is. I disagree, as I am rather fond of Andorra, but our house is not requiring that he move here. And, since he will have easy access to Andorra, and more specifically to the Mercere Lodge, while in residence at Sa Dragonera, I will support his petition either way."

Shall we move forward with a vote then?

We will be happy to oblige and provide you with a detachment of dependable men for your security in Mallorca. We assure you you will not regret it.

I will see you later then. I will be in the yard if you need to find me to share that wine; I am intrigued! He grins at the pair. Lucas, Horus, farewell. Arnau bows to the magus and familiar and goes to the yard to meet with his men. He needs to talk with Miquel Petit (small Miquel) about the potential arrangements for Lucas. This covenant is really proving a lucrative venture for the Brothers!

Ok, I come late to the party, just putting Arachné's reactions for people to read :frowning: You were GREAT, guys!

Arachné was frowning before, but Solomon's speech reassures her.
I agree very much with my sodales. Doing otherwise would be making mockeries of ourselves and inciting people to take us for fools, rightly. You'd either have those who accept the rules to become journeymen, and those that bypass them by saying they'll go to Sa Dragonera, while they'll do nothing of the sort? This can't do at all, and would be an insult to those that either chose to either live in Andorra, or to face Sa Dragonera's lesser conditions.

Arachné mumbles And more than that, you can be sure of it.

 You took me by surprise with that one. Priceless

Arachné looks at fedora
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think him locating to Sa Dragonera will cause problems with your house. If I understand correctly, he was assigned to Andorra to provide the lodge with magical support. But equipping redcaps in magical items or longevity rituals, can be done just fine in Sa Dragonera. And there was real trouble back there with redcaps and pirates, anyway, so even when doing his messenger duties, he might be more useful to your house there. So not only shouldn't his choice prove detrimental to your house, it might even be a better one.

Yes, says Arachné.
She pushes forward the small steel spider that's her voting sigil, its ruby eyes gleaming in the light
I've talked with him before, and his interview confirmed my opinion. I think he is a fine magus, willing and able to contribute to our covenant and chapterhouse. I vote him in.

 I wanted to represent Arnau preparing himself to go into Animal Ken initiation and the process of acquiring a familiar, so he is getting into the correct frame of mind and paying A LOT more attention to the familiars of the magi. While I was writing it I surprised myself with the change, since originally the text referred to Lucas. Glad you liked it.

Great stuff everybody. I have been loving this debate!!!

Vocis holds up a hand. On which topic? Lucas's membership in the covenant, the location to which he will be assigned if accepted as a member, his rank within the covenant if accepted, or some combination?

The old maga cackles
Well said, Master Vovis. I assumed too much, maybe.
I thought the debate settled on this: He asked for Sa Dragonera. So I vote yes to him being there, under the same conditions as Roberto and the others.

Yes, that is what I mean. It is settles that he shall go to Sa Dragonera, and we have established our legal authority in the matter and likewise are honoring his request to be stationed there.
I vote to accept.
Robertolooks up. I vote aye as well.

Vibria raises her obsidian dragon's claw. "Aye."

Fédora sets her red riding crop on the table. "Aye."

Vocis raises his crystal spiral and Fleur's [insert voting sigil here]. Aye and aye.

Fleur's sigil is a straight stemmed closed tulip.

Kesara votes yes (keep forgetting about here  ). That leaves Pere and Vocis then?

:open_mouth:  :smiling_imp:

Just Pere. Vocis voted three posts ago. For some reason fightmaster forgot to mention Pere.

THe reason being that Fightmaster isn't used to posting from his phone. Pere also votes yes.

Fédora looks around that the others. "It seems that we are unanimous in our approval, then." She smiles. "If there is nothing else at the moment, I would like to inform my cognatus of our decision."

Unless anyone objects or wants to inform him themselves, she rises, curtsies to the other Masters and Mistresses, and heads to the antechamber where she finds Lucas and Horus conversing with Arnau.

"I hope you'll forgive the intrusion, sodales, but I would like to pass along a message from the Council to Lucas and Horus." She pauses and clears her throat delicately. "Welcome to Sa Dragonera. Your petition for membership as a Journeyman has been accepted."

Lucas smiles when he hears the result of the vote. "That's wonderful news. Thank you for all your help and support. I shall do my best to show that you've made the right decision." Then he looks at Arnau, who is even now heading off. "I'll definitely be taking you up on that offer," he says. "And the cup of wine."

He turns back to Fedora. "Is there any more business at hand, or was the meeting just to vote on my petition? Because if the meeting's over, I should very much like to meet Master Vocis before he disappears back into his lab. I'd like to speak to him about the library and volunteer to be an assistant librarian, if he's willing."

I realize that it may be tough to talk to Vocis right now because of fightmaster's internet issues. SO I'm content to wait.

Congratulations Bill! Now you're a Law!

Oh yeah!

"That was the only reason I called the meeting, was to discuss and vote on your application. If you'd like to come into your first meeting as a Journeyman, however, you may."
